Our class has joined with the Dartmouth classes of 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, and 1946 in a project of importance to classmates. The class of 1941, led by its President Don Stillman, relocated the War Memorial to WWII and Korean War casualties to a more visible and higher traveled area between Hopkins Center and the Hanover Inn. Now we have added a granite stone just below die plaque on which is carved the following verse of our Alma Mater:

"The mother keeps them in her heart And guards their altar flame The still north remembers them The hill winds know their names And the granite of New Hampshire Keeps the record of their fame."

The memorial plaque is also lighted. The next time you are in Hanover, stop and see this class project.

Since we last listed travels of classmates, we have heard about a few more exciting trips. Mona and Bill Mercer cruised the Scandinavian countries including stops in Helsinki and Stockholm. They were also able to get to Berlin and then had a couple of days in London. Good weather made the trip perfect. Loomie and Scotty Rogers with Mavie and Eb Cockley rented a house for two weeks in the Netherlands and then a house in Switzerland for two weeks. Hope to hear more about this grand holiday. Lorraine and Sam Williams joined the Dartmouth tour of the Rhine. Among the stops were Luzern, Strasbourg, Dusseldorf, and Amsterdam. Nance and Chet Brett and Mary and Bob Armstrong were also on the cruise. Woodstock, Vt., is the sight of the annual Woodstock Invitational Croquet Tournament. This is a gathering of the top players from the east including Johnie Osborne—the top croquet player in the country. This year John Moore was paired with Osborne in the High Low event. They won.

As I put this column together in August, I can report the recent birth of our eighth grandchild Gardner Miles Pierce on Maui. Of course we will fly out in October. At this moment our grandchildren range in age from three weeks to 27 years. How about you? Have you new grandchildren? Drop a note and let us know.
