Bob Lapadula has been promoted to program supervisor with the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Bob saw Don Mac-Fayden at their 40th high school (Lowell, Mass.) reunion and had lunch with the PaulGreen Jr. family in Marblehead, Mass.

Former class president John Ferries passed along a newspaper clipping mentioning that approximately six months ago (as you read this) former Big East commissioner and Boston Celtics executive DaveGavitt had stepped down as president of the NCAA foundation to assume the position of chairman of the Basketball Hall of Fame, where he will help direct a $94-million expansion project of the Springfield, Mass., museum.

Congratulations to Tom Taggart of the Columbus, Ohio, law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour, and Pease, who was named president of the Ohio Bar Association. Tom received his law degree from Harvard University in 1965 and joined the Vorys firm that year.

At the University of Minnesota, JackZipes is professor of German, chair of the department of German, Scandinavian, and Dutch literatures, and professor of Jewish studies. He is co-editor of the YaleCompanion to Jewish Writing and Thought inGerman Culture, 1096-1996 (Yale University Press, 1997). In part, the September 16, 1997, issue of Yale BookNews describes the book as exploring a history of two entwined and clashing cultures which enrich each other, and as a new and multifaceted historical perspective.
