I had an interesting chat with Russ Tolles, who is recovering from three angioplasty procedures in less than a year: "Coronary problems continue with me starting first in the mid-seventies." His wife Alice's two knee replacements have been an unqualified success. Russ had a very interesting story to tell of classmate TomRichmond, a Gamma Delt brother, who was the victim of a tragic collision of two airliners over Brooklyn on December 16, 1960. Tom was a highly decorated marine veteran of WW II (two Silver Star Medals) who survived three of the sternest campaigns in the Pacific Theater Guadalcanal, New Britain, and Peleliu. His youngest son, Peter, seven years old when his father died, has written a book titled My Father's War. Danny, in his latest Pace Setter, covered its contents in detail so I'll stop right here!

And this from Julie Westheimer: "I'm finally writing a book. It should be out in the summer or fall of 1997. Bancroft Press will publish it....It hasn't been named yet, but it will be sort of a smorgasbord some reminiscences, a lot of lessons I've learned, haven't learned, investment chapters, what it has been like on Wall Street Week (26 years), and so on." And from the Baltimore Business Journal: "Westheimer is special managing director at Ferris, Baker Watts, as well as a regular panelist on Wall StreetWeek, a columnist for The Sun, and a commentator for WEAL's radio and TV stations. He lectures at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and was inducted into Research Magazine's 1994 Broker Hall of Fame.

It is with regret that I tell you of the loss of three of our loyal classmates, HowieFogg, Brad Jenkins, and Bob Emlen. Our sympathies to their survivors.

I trust you all saw the short article in last month's issue telling of a book written by Dick Keresey depicting his experiences as a PT boat commander in the Pacific during WW II. His was a squadron that included Kennedy's famous #109 Dick commanded #105!

For the balance of your winter, continue to enjoy either your golfing, sunning, skiing...or whatever!
