To paraphrase something they say on Imus (yes, we even get him in Hanover!), "this ain't your mother's Class Notes." That's right, I —Mike Mahoney—am stepping in as a special guest for this month's issue.

Why? Well, many of you probably noticed in a recent Standing Bonfire that Gretchen Almy filled in for our normal correspondent, Julia Hynes. JessieLevine thought that was such a great idea, she decided to take a month off herself. Guess who she suckered into taking the job? That's right me.

I was excited at first, but my enthusiasm has been tempered as the deadline draws nigh. Regular contact with Ms. Levine yielded a grand total of two correspondences. Yikes! Let's get on the stick, gang! Now I see how this job could be tough when you have to do it every month.

One way to cover numerous bases is by saying I heard from Ashley O'Neill, who is in her second year at Northwestern's Kellogg Business School. As she said, "there are lots of Dartmouth people here, so that's not really news." Hmm...would you be speaking of, among others, the "Big Dogs" such as Chris Ehrlich, Bob Ryan,George Benz, and Walter Florence?

I heard from Chris McFadden (via Jessie), who is busy in Boston. He spends his precious spare moments hiking and running with Ted LaGuerre, who is in a Ph.D. program at MIT's Sloan School. LaGuerre was married in September to Wesleyan grad Kristen Landerand.

Speaking of newlyweds, I spent a weekend with Justin Snyder and SubithaSubramaniam, who are in Cambridge while Justin completes his degree at Harvard's School for International Studies. Justin's post-collegiate roomie, RandallQuan, is back from a three-month tour of China and hanging in Hawaii (tough life). Also in Beantown, after her West Coast tour: Whitney Allen, living with Elizabeth Terry and Julie Kenerson.

Spoke with Amy Kaplan, who is at the University of Florida, as well as JadeButman, who is nearing the end of her law school gig at Pitt. Amy reported that Kristel Dorion is still in the Great Northwest after completing a master's in environmental engineering from the Oregon Institute.

One of the best parts of my job (I'm still the assistant sports information director here at Dear 01' Dartmouth) is traveling with teams and seeing friends that way. While at Columbia with women's basketball, I had lunch with Ben Crawford now working for the American Farm School in NYC and Tom Brodie, just missing Samir Desai. I'm hoping to see Melissa Rich and the aforementioned Julia Hynes, two of Wharton's finest, while at Penn. One of my college roomies doing the b-school thing is BrettKelleran, who attends UCLA with former girl-next-door Hilary Jones.

Finally, it would be downright unfair if I didn't mention my other former roommates (also, they'd kill me!): John Davi, working for Buck Consultants in Atlanta; Paru Mital, still doing the law school thing at George Washington University; and Eric Vratimos, a Mercer Management bigwig in Chicago.

Thanks for this opportunity, all, and I urge you to give Jessie news. Trust me, you don't know how hard this is until you do it yourself! Also, I make a plea for you to join me and many other classmates in Hanover this June for our fifth Reunion. Unfortunately, my Park Street apartment is booked solid, so I'll have to see you at the tent!

(Oh, and Gretchen, about that StandingBonfire issue...you are definitely bringing me my beers that weekend!)
