Mea culpa. In my recent write-up of the '41 daughters who attended Dartmouth, I omitted Beany and Babs Nutt's daughter Patsy. She had transferred from the University of Vermont in the early days of coeducation in Hanover. Patsy graduated way back in 1973 and now has two sons of college age. She and her husband, Eric Decker, were fiends from Hanover High, he being a Dartmouth classmate and the son of Bob Decker, professor of geology at Dartmouth. The long-married couple now live in Salisbury, Md., where Eric is a doctor of pathology.

I noted in Dartmouth Medicine, the magazine for the alumni and friends of the Med School, that Slip Rainie has succeeded Tim Takaro, who was the secretary and magazine columnist for the DMS Class of '42 for the past ten years. The magazine also contained the news that Slip had recently been honored by the Women's Club of Concord, N.H., as one of seven 1996 Community Good Guys. The seven were chosen from more than 60 nominees for "longstanding committment to the community." Congratulations Slip and best wishes to the busy world-traveler Tim Takaro down in Asheville, N.C.

And a tip of the beanie to BruceFriedlich for writing a fine tribute to his longtime friend and our loyal classmate Bob Tepper. Bruce also offered a eulogy at the services for Bob in New Jersey in December. Bruce and Karla enjoy the beautiful view from their rebuilt home in Santa Fe, N.M., during the winter months. Then they get back to New York, where Bruce advises some old business clients as a marketing consultant.

A note from Susan Kasten '77 contained some bad news and some good news. The late A1 Van Wie's eldest daughter reported that her mother, Mary Van Wie, has lost most of her eyesight due to macular degeneration, but the spunky widow gained a new husband, Richard Johnson, in Troy, N.Y., in Christmas 1995. Susan also stated that the Van Wie clan are very happy with the new man about the house, an RPI alumnus.

I talked to Stu May up in Spring Hill, Fla., after receiving a note about his coming down to the Sarasota mini in March. He and Audrey are expecting to team up with nearby residents Bill and MillieSteel, Hans and Irene Froehlich plus Bill and Evelyn Hammond for the trek to Sarasota. Stu and Audrey are also looking forward to a May-June trip to visit oldtime friends in England and Belgium.
