After eight years as a trustee and seven years as chairman, Dick Page is retiring from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Board of Trustees.
Sam Chase is one of the pioneers at Academy Village, a new retirement community near Tucson, Arizona, where "residents retire neither their minds nor their bodies." Sam, before retirement, served on the staff of the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, was an advisor to the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System and on the senior staff of the Brookings Institution.
George Haskins reports from his winter home on Seabrook Island, South Carolina (outside Charleston). His golf is improving. He reports eight grandchildren and reminisces about the first days in Streeter with Donn Hill, Mike Finigan, Bob McGrath and Charlie Morrison.
Jay Davis was recently elected to the board of directors of the Upper Valley Haven of White River Junction, which is a community supported non-profit organization providing free shelter, food and clothing to families in need.
Your secretary picked up a copy of the NewJersey Lawyer and saw a very familiar face in the lead article on the front page. None other the Delaware Chief Justice Norm Veasey. Norm had served as chairman of Ethics 2000, which proposed sweeping ethic rules that were adopted by the American Bar Association. The proposals were an attempt at achieving consistent rules throughout the individual states. Norm wrote that the process was "very effective, open and exhausting." Dave McLaughlin also served on the committee.
Eight hardy '54s attended the Third Annual Skiing Reunion in Aspen: Cliff Evans, Mike Morrissey, Tom Tyler, Dick Gorsey, Ned Freedman, Dick Pearl, Art Rauch and Jay Davis. Next year will be in either Breckenridge or Steamboat, Colorado.
The Third Annual '54 Golf Reunion was held at the Plantation Inn in Crystal River, Florida. As this column is being written, 14 '54 couples are about to leave for a mini-reunion cruising the Greek Islands aboard the Callisto.
