Maybe it takes a sense of humor to be a successful class treasurer. Anyway, our eminent one, Jack Zellers has been honored for founding the Wit and Humor Collection at the Pequot Library, according to the Fairfield Minuteman. It says, "Sitting in a sunny room in his historic house built in 1828 on Main Street, Southport (Conn.), Zellers modestly waves away any praise for his part in creating the newly launched American Wit and Humor Collection at the Qequot Library. He was honored there last night during the library's 108th annual meeting, for this latest contribution as well as his many years of support for the library." Jack was treasurer, then president of the library 1969-71 and 1973-77, and currently is on the library's advisory board. His favorite authors (and mine) are Mark Twain, Robert Benchley, and the Canadian Stephen Laycock. Editor's Note: As we go to presswe regrettably announce the death of Mr. Zellers on Nov. 29, 1997.
Recently I talked with Gene Katz, who has been active in College affairs for many years. He served on the Alumni Council and was chairman of its public relations committee. He is living quietly in retirement in his house on East 82nd Street in New York. His wife died several years ago. He finds taking care of his personal affairs takes up most of his time. Although his affairs must be considerable I think he must still be classified as inactive.
I regret to report the death of NickWinn on September 10.
