Deb Vogel writes in with news from Los Angeles, where she is working at the Museum of Contemporary Art and continuing with her own art work. You might recall, if not from Dartmouth then from an old column I had written soon after we graduated, that Deb and fellow '94 Mike Houston had been honored while at Dartmouth with The Perspectives on Design Award in June '94 for the "exceptional creativity and originality" of their work in studio art. I am sure that Deb has been fostering that exceptional creativity out in LA, and I hope many West Coasters will be able to see Deb's artwork exhibited at the MOCA-LA sometime in the future! Deb also writes about some of her '94 neighbors: "Eric Kuecherer is also in Los Angeles. He is living with Jeff Battema and Greg Rodgers, just off of Melrose. Eric is working at a healtb-care company." Deb didn't write about what Jeff and Greg are doing, but if you're curious and local, I suppose you could stop by and ask them.

I got a postcard from Jon Good this past fall depicting a very psychedelic purple Minnesota skyline. He assured me that despite the fact that "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" hails from Minneapolis, the sky is not usually purple there. That's too bad a little purple rain may be just the tourist lure Minnesota needs. But Jon was not lured by purple postcards or bizarre singers, but rather, by an academic calling. He is finishing his second year of a Ph.D. program in medieval history at the University of Minnesota and is enjoying it very much. For weather reports, Prince sightings, and other info from Jon, you can e-mail him at: .

Cari (Silberfein) Sobolewski writes with lots of big news about many people, herself included. "I'm now in my third year of the Ph.D. program in neuropsychology at the Chicago Med School," she writes. "This summer I married Matt Sobolewski (from my hometown) in Connecticut. We had a lovely wedding and reception in Avon, Conn." Among Cari's many Dartmouth friends who attended were matron of honor Lisa Johnson Carspecken; maid of honor Charis Connell; and bridesmaids Beth Breckenridge and Stacey Tomaccio. "Our furthest traveling guest, by far, was Patrick McMahon, who came from Australia," writes Cari. I would have given anything to see Pat "slurring with an Australian accent" after a few drinks. Hope you have some incriminating evidence on video, Cari! Other Dartmouth alums in attendance were Jon Newton, Noah Taylor, Michelle McKenzie and her then-fiance (now husband) Peter Nelson '93, Hugh Carspecken, Jeff Granoff, and Kristen Prettyman '95 and fiance Peter Zern '95. "We all had a great time," writes Cari. "Our only complaint is that it went by too fast." Cari and Matt now live in Evanston, III., where they will stay until Cari finishes her program. They did make a trip back to Hanover in September to attend the wedding of the above-mentioned Michelle McKenzie Nelson and Peter Nelson. While there, they also caught a glimpse of another '94 wedding, that of Chris Bartel and Darcey Forbes, going on the same day. "They all looked great," writes Cari. The next wedding on the horizon for Cari and Matt is that of Charis Connell and Noah Taylor, which will be held this May on Nantucket. I'll be anxiously awaiting the details on that one! Congratulations and good luck to all of you! And now I am out of room, so as always, remember to please take care of yourselves, stay in touch with each other, and of course, stay in touch with me. Write soon.
