Class president HowardGreene writes that he enjoyed attending the 60th birthday dinner party for former class president John Ferries. Howard reports that John's daughter Karen is finishing up culinary school after a successful undergraduate career at Gettysburg College, and thatjohn's sons, Alex and Jason both Dartmouth graduates, are pursuing studies in medicine and engineering. In recognition of John's tireless efforts on behalf of the class, those gathered presented him with the limited edition of the Dartmouth lamp engraved "To John Ferries from the Class of 1959." Also in attendance with spouses were Chris Condy Bill Colehower, and Doug Wise. Howard reports that Chris and Janice are completing their new home on Lake Sunapee; that Doug (who roasted John in a poem on this occasion) and Joanne enjoy their home in Lyme, where Doug remains active on behalf of the class as mini-reunion chairman; and that Bill looks like he could quickly suit up and center the football for a winning Dartmouth team.

Bill, who is chairman and CEO of Jomac Inc.,Warrington, Penn., was honored at the 1997 annual conference of the NPES: The Association for Suppliers of Printing and Publishing Technologies. The organization presented him the 1997 Harold W. Gegenheimer Individual Award for Industry Service. The award was established to recognize leadership and participation in the association, industry and civic activities, and technical innovation. Accompanying the award was a $l,000 scholarship in Bill's name, presented to the organization's national scholarship trust fund.

In an extremely well-thought-out December 1, 1997, letter to "fellow 60-year-old wine enthusiasts and travelers," Doug credited Joe La Vigna and his fiancee, Stephanie Batanides for doing an extraordinary job of bringing to life a May 14-17, 1997, class of 1959 mini-reunion at the Sonoma Valley (Calif.) Inn.
