This morning as I was executing the most hazardous movement of the day, that is, putting on my trousers one leg at a time, necessitating balancing on one foot while inserting the other in a pant leg (I recommend keeping a bedpost handy), it occurred to me to wonder how many of us were still able to accomplish this once-simple maneuver without difficulty. Certainly those planning to attend the 70th Reunion should be. So I called Bob Reed, who is coming all the way from California. What he had to say amazed me and certainly puts him in the top rank of the active list. He is planning to come all the way by rail accompanied by his cousin, also a Dartmouth grad. Bob retired in 1970 after 40 years with a paper company. He took time out during the war to join the air force, which, as a Culver graduate he entered with a commission and after four years retired as a lieutenant colonel. He still goes fishing in Minnesota regularly and is planning to do so again on his return home from the Reunion. I'll wager he has no problem with the trousers balancing act. In fact, I was so amazed by his story, I forgot to ask him about it.

I intend to attend the 70th myself. In addition to the usual reasons I hope to make it clear I am not a candidate for any class officer, including that of secretary. I no longer feel adequate to the task.

I regret to report the death of JohnnyScott on January 17.
