Greetings, classmates! It's been just about a year since we graduated. Thank you for all the great messages this year. Five days from now I set off for my own adventure. Vas Lakshminarayan, Jill McCammon, and I are going to visit Ann Melander in Switzerland. Ah, spring break! It sounds like Jeffrey Cerny has also been having some fun lately. He recently returned from his honeymoon in Hawaii. He married Cheryl Bergassi in Massachusetts. Jeff works at the Whitehead Institute at MIT. The couple lives in Somerville

Speaking of fun, Jim Donnelly is working in Club Med in Florida. He plays guitar at night in the restaurant there. During the day he gives water-ski lessons, paints faces at the kids' circus, and works as a chef. He's been playing the role of Stewpot in the staff production of South Pacific. In a few months he's headed to their club in Tahiti!

Penn Dodson recently wrote from London. She said she is working there but hopes to start service with the Peace Corps this summer. Penn said Carter Wray is teaching high school in Atlanta. ChrisFowler is living in Portland , Ore., where he occasionally plays ultimate Frisbee with other alumni. Jess Russo recently wrote about a trip she and Dawn Delizia took over New Year's vacation. First, they saw Cristina Kuechmann in Savannah. Then they drove to UNC to have lunch with SanderSchlichter at the med school. The same night they stayed in D.C. with Jenn Tudder and hung out with her and Matt Walus. Jess wrote that Jenn recently moved to Chicago. Finally they drove to NYC the next afternoon to have lunch with Pam Saunders. Pam is working in an art advertisement company and doing well.

"As for me," Jess wrote, "I'm headed off to the University of Connecticut for dental school in August. Until then I'm staying in Boston working as a dental assistant and checking lots of teeth. Dawn is halfway through getting an M.B.A. and an M.S. in accounting at Northeastern University. This term she is working as an auditor with Ernst & Young."

Jake O'Shea is finishing his first year of UVA Med School in Charlottesville. He shares an apartment with Jason DiMarino '97. Jake said he frequently runs into a bunch of the other '97s down there, like Mark Cutny and Kevin McCart. And he had a couple of unexpected run-ins with BryanFarrow and Will Hubbard.

Jake visited D.C. for a UVA Med School Alumni Association meeting and saw Carolyn Abruzzo, Mollie Greves, Neal Dickert, Dave Zipkin, and Siobahn Gorman. Jake sings in a couple of a cappella groups and does some volunteer work. Congratulations go out to Jake, who was recently named Sigma Nu's "Man of the Year" by the national organization.

Dan Fehlauer recently was accepted with a full four-year fellowship into Harvard's Germanic literature and language Ph.D. program, but is still looking into two other programs. He has been thoroughly enjoying his year abroad as a Fulbright Fellow, teaching English in Wismar, on Germany's Baltic Coast. Dan travels almost every weekend and recently got together with ChristieCarpenter in Paris. Christie is speading a year abroad on a teaching assistantship in France. They toured the Louvre and saw Puccinni's opera Tosca.

Andy Bernasconi wrote that he recently ventured from Boston (where he works at the Statehouse as a legislative aide to a state representative) to D.C. to visit friends and see the D.C. sights. Andy wrote, "I hung out in the city for the weekend with ShannonSullivan (she just moved there from California to take a new job with a non-profit organization in D.C.) and Jeff Schmitt (who just took a new job with a law firm in D.C.), and while we were out we ran into Kevin Price and Vadim Sarma."
