So, if this column had a title, it would be Weddings, Weddings and more Weddings. Okay, that's not so original, but it does describe this Class Notes.

Marty Dengler said Stephen Schmidt turned up to catch reunion Saturday despite having just arrived back from his honeymoon in Italy with his wife, Christina.

"The couple tied the knot in Marthas Vineyard only a few weekends before, and though the much-awaited best mans speech did not reveal as much as had been promised, the cliff-top ceremony in the shade of one of the Vineyards picturesque lighthouses stole the show."

Marty said the reception and dancing lasted well into the night as chefs from New York City cooked up "amazing culinary creations to accompany the liquid refreshments. Local ordinances kept the party from lasting longer than an old-school Phi-Delt rage and sunny weather throughout the weekend framed the event."

Wendy Jastremski '95 wrote in with some happy news about Peter Scheidt. "Love is in the air," Wendy wrote. "Shortly after attending my wedding in May, Peter Scheidt got engaged to Dr. Joni Abusch. They plan to be wed this winter."

Sam Bonderoff checked in recently with news of his engagement. "On August 13 I became engaged to a wonderful woman named Amy Karyo, and we're getting married probably next July. She came up to Hanover with me to the five-year reunion and had the full Dartmouth experience, including possible food poisoning at Panda House."

Sam and Amy live in the West Village in Manhattan. In September Sam started work as a first-year litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Although this appears to be the curriculum vitae of an actual adult, I'm still as immature as ever, a fact best evinced by my desperate need to work the terms curriculum vitae' and evince' into this e-mail," Sam said.

Father John married Tony Field and Karin Ches.ebro last year at Aquinas. Tony said he moved to Boston three years ago to be closer to Karin. I took a job at an Internet startup that believe it or not is still in existence today (though it has been bought out twice, now known as divine, inc.)," Tony said.

Now Tony and Karin are moving back to Toronto, where Tony will continue to work as a Java programmer and Karin will go back to school to earn a M.Ed, in Montessori teaching.

Padraic M. Malinowski became engaged to his girlfriend of almost three years, Ellen Fast April 13.

After a picnic dinner in front of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., I led her around the church to the back lawn, and asked her to marry me as the bells in the carillon pealed to celebrate a wedding inside (that was a total coincidence, but I went with it)," Padraic said.

It s appropriate they were engaged to the backdrop of music, which has played an important role in their romance. I met Ellen three years ago when I joined the Thomas Circle Singers, a choir for whom she is accompanist. She is now finishing her fourth year accompanying TCS, and she also works for Heldref Publications, editing Environment and Weatherwise magazines. We are planning a November 9 wedding in Washington. Those who know me know that there will be a lot of wonderful music at this ceremony."

Padraic has been with Watson Wyatt for three years doing actuarial consulting. He has been singing with TCS and with the Schola Cantorum at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, the home church of the Catholic archbishop of Washington.

Congratulations everyone. And to all those single, engaged and married '97s, please write in with news of your adventures!
