Alex Bodnar has surfaced. She dropped me an e-mail upon learning she was the subject of my last column, in which I questioned her whereabouts. Turns out she's alive and well, living in sunny Southern California. An attorney for a mid-sized Beverly Hills firm, she makes her home in Hermosa Beach six blocks from the water.

Naturally, some nuptials. For a little twist to my standard report on wedding plans, this month I'm announcing my own and those of one of my dearest friends. Talk about parallel lives. Within three months, Shari Carver and I were each proposed to while we were vacationing with our significant others. And we're both marrying men we work with.

Paul Belanger proposed to Shari while they were spending part of their spring break in England. They both work at the Bancroft School in Worcester, Mass.: Paul's a drama teacher and Shari teaches French, Spanish, and Latin. They plan to be wed next June in Rochester, N.Y., Shari's hometown. Quent Williams proposed to me while we were vacationing at Lake Powell on a houseboat with a handful of friends and family members. We both work for a Littleton-based tour operator, where I edit the travel brochures that he lays out. (Yep, we work VERY closely together.) We're aiming for an August 1999 wedding date. Needless to say, Shari and I will most certainly be sharing planning-a-ceremony tips; and if anyone has been through this before and wants to pass on their hints, please drop me a line! In fact, I'm desperate for news, so let me know what's going on in your lives. And consider this a warning: if I have nothing else to report in future columns, I'm more than ready to share all the details of looking for florists, bands, and reception halls. I'd much rather share news about you so write!
