As I write this it is but a few days following the College meetings in Hanover. The place looked as pleasant as usual, and the new freshman class was just settling in. Present were: president MacMannis and Sally, treasurer Cornie Miller and Janet, newsletter editor Peter Cardozo and Susan, bequest and mini-reunion chair Bob Kaiser and Evie, and secretary Dick Jackson and Math.

We received a printout of the class activity report. It showed not only that we have the highest dues ($50) of all classes in our era (which average $27.60) but the 66 percent who pays dues also tops all, who average but 42 percent paid. However, we are the only class who did not make 100 percent of our Alumni Fund goal in 1999, having fallen just shy at 99 percent. Our participation in giving was the second lowest of the group, 63 percent with an average of 67.9 percent. We are not sure what the Bartlett Tower Society is, but we think it is givers of $1,769 or more. In this department, we fortunately lead with 40 members, the average being but 29.

Our only Green Card came from JohnDavenport, who missed the 60th Reunion in favor of Ellie's 80th birthday celebra- tion, which took the form of a bunch of Shaw Festival plays at Niagara-on-the- Lake, N.Y. Thence on to spend time with his brother Dave in New London, N.H., a stop at Hanover, and an evening with Bunny and Bill Webster in their digs in Chester, Conn. Final activity was attending the wedding of a granddaughter in Marion, Mass. An e-mail from RogStanwood in late August grumbled about the heat and humidity in Houston. Rog didn't make the 60th because Margaret had to spend a good part of the month wrestling with health problems that have apparently been corrected.

Via Betsy Emmons we learned that Ginny Oldershaw died in early September. We have sent class condolences to Lou.

It is hard for us each year to realize that Christmas creeps up so rapidly. As these notes are scheduled to appear in the December issue, we wish one and all a Merry Yuletide and a healthy and happy millennium.
