Light on the news front this month—must be due to the holiday cheer still swirling around. Coming from the Deerfield School District, where he has been "the energetic superintendent," Max McGee was selected late last year to be the Illinois state superintendent of education. A marathoner and triathlete, Max has impressed his Deerfield principals and others during his 23 years in Illinois public education: "He brings people along. Some people tell you to do something; he guides you and leads you and wants you to do better." Sounds terrific, Max!
Dick Krant reports that the latest Tucker Foundation Class of 1972 Fellow is Shea Mclnemy '00, who's in Hoboken. An English and creative writing major, Shea's from Ohio and is active in campus poetry programs (a weekly poetry workshop) and singing (an a cappella group, the Decibelles). John deRegt will be Shea's adviser—harkening back to his Jersey City days.
Meanwhile, it's raining here in Seattle/Bellevue (so what else is new??). Please write, and let me know what's going on in your neck of the woods!
