First, let me apologize that there was no column in the September issue. This was due to an inadvertent error when there was a changing of the guard with my editorship of the class column in Blunt Hall. My column was on file, but somehow did not get published. In any event, here goes the most recent news.

Congratulations are due to John Woods and his wife, Rhonda, who recently celebrated the birth of their child, Zane Cameron Woods. John and Rhonda currently reside in Oklahoma City, Okla. Congratulations to you both.

Scott Anderson is now the head lacrosse coach at Harvard University. We wish him well in all of his athletic endeavors except for the games against the Big Green.

Patrick Martin has been appointed an officer in the Chicago office of GMAC Mortgage Corporation's income property lending division. He is a 12-year veteran of mortgage banking and finance. Patrick joined GMAC from the Chicago office of a real estate financial services institution where he was a mortgage banker, served in their direct lending operations, and was a registered investment advisor working with pension funds and foreign clients. Previously, he served in various positions in the banking department of the Northern Trust Company in Chicago.

Reed Greene and his wife, Cecilia, also recently celebrated the birth of their first child, Marilyn Therese, who Reed claims will certainly be a member of the class of '08.

Reed reports, "I am in the process of putting up the basketball goal (only three feet to start) for her when she starts walking. She's a lot like the old man because she always has her mouth open, only she's a bit hard to understand because she tends to run her words together. Cecilia is assistant controller of Concord Corporation and doing exceptionally well. I practice commercial litigation with the law firm of Jorrie, Archer, Standley and Chovanek. We are eagerly awaiting the next reunion. We have a super Dartmouth Club here in San Antonio, and I hope to have more time to devote to it as I get the job and baby under control."

Finally, I have some very sad and tragic news to impart to the class. Kem Tyler died last summer in Manchester, Conn., after a long illness. Kem was the owner and president of the Manchester Lumber Company at the time of his death. Kem graduated from Suffield Academy in 1969 and after Dartmouth went on to receive his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Business School. Before joining the Manchester Lumber Company in 1978, he was the assistant manager of the White Pass ski area in Yakima, Wash., and was also the ski school supervisor at Taos Ski Valley, Taos, N.M. Those of us who knew Kem at Dartmouth remember him as a friendly, athletic, funloving member of Alpha Chi Alpha, a rugby player, and an avid skier who was involved with the ski school and winter sports program. Our condolences to his wife, Lynn, and his three children, Ryan, Keith, and Jamen. Kem will certainly be missed. He was a fine friend and a loyal son of Dartmouth.

That's it for this month. I hope by the time this column reaches your doorstep our paths will have crossed at a football game this fall.

See you next month.
