December 6, 1998, was a bad day for the class. Jim Feeley passed on in California, and Endy Smith died on the other end of the country in Massachusetts. (Obits in this and a later issue)

We had a nice note from Paul Winship, who is now living in Lyme, Conn., although he and Pudie still summer in Hyannisport, on Cape Cod.

We have had an e-mail connection with one Marisa Howe '98, who is the granddaughter of our late ColbyHowe. She is living in the Bay area around San Francisco and wonders if there are any '39ers in that area who knew Colby, with whom she could chat. Her e-mail address is .

Our New Hampshire lawyers are coming in for a great deal of ink. The latest is that Freddie Upton has been named an Honorary Fellow at the Bar Foundation's Annual Fellows Reception held on January 22. Bob Clymer, who was last heard from on a bird shoot in southern Africa, is either making plans for some Atlantic fishing or has already done it on the Ponoi River in Murmansk, Russia.

We seem to be filled with sober news this month. We understand that EddieWells is having some health problems, and we learned from Pem Pleasants that he had a pretty tough time of it last year. He has apparently bounced back in reasonably good shape.

Bob Nuffort reports that Al Meyer's widow, Dot, passed on in Cape Coral, Fla., on December 9. Bob and Miriam came back from Minnesota to be on hand for the funeral.

We had a card from Howie Snyder in Davis, Calif., who said he had hoped to make our 60th Reunion but has had to change his plans as a result of his doctor's recent diagnosis, which suggests that he is suffering from the dreaded Alzheimer's disease.

Herb Hirschland, hard at work with plans for the upcoming reunion, June 14-16, reports that 145 folks are planning on being on hand in Hanover. And since that time we have had two green cards, one from Hilly Spitz, who says he will be there, and the other from Judge Lou Oberdorfer, who is still planning on making the June party. Be there!
