I recently received a few e-mail messages which reminded me that several weeks ago, I started to update my 1969 electronic address book but ran out of steam somewhere in the Gs. Steam is hard to come by these days. So if you are on-line and haven't heard from me, send me a quick message so I can add your name.
Doug Mattox sent a quick recap of his last 30 years, starting with Yale med school, residency at Stanford, teaching at University of Texas at San Antonio, then Johns Hopkins, and a fellowship at the University of Zurich, where he met his future wife. After returning to Hopkins and reaching the rank of professor, Doug moved across town to become chairman at the University of Maryland. At this point his frequent flyer miles were about to run out so last March he accepted the position of chairman of the newly created department of otolaryngology—head and neck surgery at Emory University. He and his family live in Adanta, and would love to hear from classmates in the area .
Tim Means wrote with news of his son Sam's acceptance to the class of '03. Elder son Ben '95 is finishing law school and will soon join Tim and his wife, Judith, at the bar. Tim hopes to arrange his family's busy schedule to make it to the 30th.
Using the low tech phone, Mike Rieder (actually his wife, Andy) called to say that number two son Casey would be joining number one son Evan in Hanover next year. Evan is a member of the Dartmouth-Aires, who will be performing for us during the reunion.
I just recently visited Art Lamontagne's website- (there is not much to do in New Hampshire when it is sleeting). The site is actually for his medical practice. All are welcome to stop by- The Association of Moral Education held its annual conference at Dartmouth last November and Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Association, was one of the many attendees and speakers. Ted has long been an advocate of more family-oriented films and television and was a member of the panel that considered the question "Do the entertainment media set the moral agenda for the country?"
I he 30th Reunion is fast approaching June 17-20. If you have not yet sent in your registration, there is still time. If there are any questions, contact me or Paul Tuhus ().
Take care, and write, and stay off the list.
