"The secret of staying young is to find an age you really like and stick with it," printed on a napkin caught our fancy at a party recently. Not bad advice! This is being written on Valentine's Day, President's Day, and Dartmouth Carnival Weekend. The Dartmouth ski team performed very well, by a few points, in second place to UVM.
The fraternity/sorority decision by the Trustees and President Wright was released during that same week, and by the time you read this much will have been written, spoken about, televised, and decided, so suffice it to be noted, it did cause an uproar on campus.
One of '29's very loyal, hardworking members, Dick "Blinker" Black died in February. He had been in poor health for some time, and Katie was staying in the hospital with him till the end. Dick raised money for Dartmouth tirelessly for years, and when the class had not reached its quota, somehow mysteriously the shortage was covered.
I hope you have made your plans for our 70th Reunion at Commencement time. Classmates, wives, and widows will be the guests of the College for everything but a few meals. Dartmouth Alumni Office keeps sending information to members of the reuning classes, and with more details than we know. Hanover is at her best in June!
There must be many who feel as Rip does,
In confidence of early youth We counted, on the power of Truth, But now we're careful where we seek Lest truth be lost to Lawyer-speak!
