March—Hanover's month of snow and mud is the best month of all to be away from this part of the country. However, we are staying right here, toughing it out. While Hazel was out playing bridge, Rip and Harris Huston had a happy telephone visit. The Hustons are both doing fine. Harris says his hip operation makes him walk like a turtle, but he feels no pain. Hazel sees better than ever after a cataract operation and is going for another. He still can't understand why there was such a fuss over the Indian situation, but is well aware Dartmouth is doing things better than its rivals.

In a 1935 issue of the Alumni Magazine, Secretary Bill Andres reported many marriages and said Bill Coles, John Dickey, and Gerry Swope were turning our alumni fund job over to Bill Keyes. How things change. A 1947 issue lists Dr. William W. Lougee as secretary of 1888. Your secretary is just carrying on a family tradition.

Now for Rip: "Old politicians never die Nor even fade away. And some of them may even try To keep old age at bay, But after eighty it's a shock To find we cannot stop the clock. I know some who, with banners flying, Will everlastingly keep trying."
