"It's time to run, time to hide, break on through to the other side," sang Nick Roberts (well, maybe Nick wasn't actually doing that since he was talking via e-mail...but your co-class scribe has two daughters who listen to Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Pokemon theme music all day all the time and that creates the potential for complete mental collapse so any perceived musical alternative—including the Doors—is a good thing) from his post in jungle-humid, drought-stricken, thunderstorm-laced, basketball-less Atlanta. Nick, Kathy, Luke and Emma now reside in Buckhead. Three dogs. Two point five cars. Leather furniture. Direct TV so that Nick can watch the Red Sox and Pedro. Plenty of ingredients for mint juleps. And air conditioning—lots and lots of air conditioning. Nicks also got a Web design firm called Media Stew that seems to be rolling along nicely. It's always so pleasant to write about a happy Alpha Chi.

Steve Wimsatt, a loyal member of the sailing team during our undergradyears, has been successfully tracked down. Steves with CAIS Software Solutions in San Diego, where he was recently appointed VP of market development. The company provides Internet access software and services. There was a nice photo of Steve that accompanied the press release. It looked suspiciously like his freshman book picture from 1979, with a coat and necktie somehow expertly added. We'll discuss this matter some other time.

Jim Dompkowski, motivated by the onslaught of two class newsletters (thanks Julie and Lisa!) in the span of several weeks, crumbled under the pressure and checked in from Saco, Maine. Jenny and I love it when this happens; it's tangible evidence that our cries for help don't go unnoticed. Jim lives with his partner, Mark. They're renovating an antique Cape farmhouse that's located about two miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Jim has a daughter, Sarah, who turned 7 in August.

The College has a news clipping service, which is a wonderfully reliable means of regularly securing information about you. The other day, an excerpt from El Nuevo Dia (San Juan, Puerto Rico) arrived, which had an enticingly long story about Fernando Lloveras San Miguel. I was psyched about the apparent news given Fernando's inexplicably long absence from this column. There's a minor problem, however; the article is written in Spanish, which I haven't really spoken with any degree of competence since 1982. Here's what I've been able to shakily piece together: Fernando's accomplished quite a lot. He earned a masters in public politics from Harvard (by the way, did you know Conan O'Brien spoke at Harvard's commencement this year; what's THAT all about?), and aJ.D. from the University of Puerto Rico. Things get a little blurrier here, so work with me. Not too long ago, Fernando launched a company called MicroJuris, which (groping now...REALLY groping) offers online, interactive legal advice and assistance. The company has been remarkably successful, and now has offices in Venezuela, Brazil, Chile several other Latin America countries and Europe. I see words vaguely related to the Internet, like CD-ROM, business-to-business, market share and modem. I also see words that, for whatever reason, translate in my mind to "under a full moon." But that can't possibly be right. So, I'd better stop there. Bottom line—Microjuris appears to have an innovative, successful company and Fernando's the man behind it.

Thanks very much for keeping in touch.. .and enjoy the foliage season.
