As I write this in mid-June, we've had a successful Cape Cod mini gathering with some 26 attendees. New faces were Pres Moore, Ann and John Keefe and Suzie and Bob Gray. The regulars included: Don and Louise McCorkindale, Kent and Rachel Lane, Doc and Susie Fielding, Bud and Betty Miskell, Amy Stevens, Howie Thomas, Farmer and Jan Mead, Paul and Betsy Randall, Bob and Jean Grant, Bing and Anne Donaldson, Andy Caffrey and Ray McMahon. A note from Mort Pechter mentions two grandsons accepted to the class of 2004, recent contact with Norm Probstein (hotels and restaurants), Charlie Cahn (still lawyering) and Art Lynn (design and construction). Mort and Alese remain very active in photography. Bill Woythaler wrote to tell me about Frank Hartmann's great talent as a violinist, which was missing from his obituary. John Goode alerted me to Gerald Astor's book, The Greatest WarAmericans in Combat, 1941-1945, in which John is quoted at considerable length concerning the Italian campaign. A March note from Bob Ehinger mentions a Vero Beach luncheon with Tom and Rose McManus, also seeing Harry Bishop at a Princeton seminar on gene research and ethics last winter. Ed Bock checked in about "a remarkable April 13 evening in Paris with Jo and Guy Mallett—they appeared immune to aging." Ed also mentioned that he and George Ann visited Connie and John Reps on the occasion of John's rare maps auction and added that, "I have mostly retired from university teaching." An email from Charlie Cusack mentioned cruising the Caribbean last March and conversing with a fellow passenger from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom who didn't know Bud Kast. An e-mail from Frank Dain, who is not charmed with the College's student life initiative. Your scribe, along with Anne and Bing Donaldson, recently returned from a 24-day trip to Australia and New Zealand. In Sydney I had lunch with Peter Lambert '81, our late classmate Stan Lamberts son. With this issue, DAM is reducing publication from nine to six per year. A reminder that fall mini weekend is October 6-8, Yale game. Finally, Harry Semmes wrote to advise me of Phil Bowie's passing. Our condolences to the Bowie family. Stay well!
