This has been a difficult few months for the class of 93. I regret to report that we have lost three classmates recently. My condolences go out to the family and friends of each of these classmates. On December 21, 1999, Thomas Vernon Foster died of cardiac arrest. Thomas is from Eugene, Oregon, where he returned after graduating from Dartmouth. Most recently Thomas was attending the University of Oregon School of Law.

Cynthia Cook Jacobson passed away at her home in New York in April of this year. She is survived by her husband Bryan "Buttle" Jacobson. He and Cindy were members of the Tabard while at Dartmouth.

Most recently, Diana Kornet fell in a fatal accident after reaching the summit of Mt. Hood on June 4. Diana taught at The Menlo School and then at Oregon Episcopal School before deciding that she wanted to pursue a medical career. She had recently been accepted by the medical school at OHSU and was excited to begin this fall. Diana will always be remembered for her many gifts, including her beautiful voice as a member of the Dodecaphonics.

Despite the tragic losses of three of our classmates, we also have a recent birth to announce. Rebecca Blume Salzhauer weighing in at a healthy 9 pounds, 3 ounces, was born on May 9 to Amanda (Roth) Salzhauer and her husband, Michael '84. Amanda reports that she loves every minute of motherhood. Welcome to the Dartmouth family, Rebecca.

Betsy Barth Maranz wrote in from Atlanta, where she lives with her husband, Craig, and their 11/2-year-old English bull dog Delilah. Betsy had been living in D.C. after graduation from Dartmouth, and then decided to pursue a joint masters in Jewish education and Jewish communal service from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. She graduated in 1998. Along the way she met Craig, who is now a rabbi, and they were married in June of 1998. Craig is the director of education and rabbi of The Temple (of Driving MissDaisy fame) in Atlanta and Betsy is the museum educator at The William Breman Jewish Heritage Museum.

Betsy also had several reports on fellow 93s: Julie Gordon was married last June to Patrick Willis, who Julie met while working at Leo Burnett. John Goff has started a new job as a teacher. David Goldfarb and Allison Salkeld are engaged to be married this summer. Gary Frank recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and is looking forward to beginning his residency in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Gary is engaged to Rebecca Seidel, who will soon begin her first year of medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. The two are planning a summer 2001 wedding.

Finally, Heather Gunas wrote in to announce that Jennifer Huffman was married to Tim Ulasewich last November. Jennifer and Tim both work for Arthur Andersen in Miami. The ceremony was held in a lovely church in Ft. Lauderdale. Sabrina Farrar '92 was in attendance and "danced a mean shuffle at the reception," according to Heather. Maybe Heather will write in again soon and update us on her own whereabouts and activities these days.

Keep the news coming. Stay tuned next month for an update from yours truly on an upcoming Dartmouth wedding in New Hampshire. (Hows that for a teaser?)
