Here's a quick review for the once-in-a-lifetime 60th class reunion, June 11 to 13. Class H.Q. will be at the convenient Hayward Lounge at the Inn. The first day's program will feature afternoon tours, reception at the Inn, dinner at the restored Commons and concert by the Alumni Glee Club. The second day will begin with breakfast at Thayer, a session with President Wright, class meeting and outdoor lunch at the Outing Club, and will close with a reception and banquet at the Inn. The third day will offer breakfast at Thayer, a memorial service at Rollins and a goodbye luncheon on the terrace of the Inn. A helluva party, says co-chairman Vic Schneider. So send him your reservation without further delay. Your classmates are waiting to see you!

To continue this nostalgic trip, let me give you some excerpts from a 1941 Winter Carnival souvenir program, graciously contributed by Bill Hotaling. In the photo of the varsity ski team, Bill, as manager, is surrounded by such alpine worthies as Captain (professor-to-be) Charlie McLane, (doctor-to-be) Spif Little, (N.Y.C. realtor) Alex Salm and (farmer/geologist) Jim Page. The write-up of the hockey team is authored by Frank Hall, who advises spectators to watch captain Fred Maloon in the Carnival match with Yale. Sports writer Hall also refers to Dartmouth Indians as he describes skaters Pidge Hughes, John Kelley, Pete Keir and John O'Connor. Hank Gunst is noted in the team picture as manager of the so-called Indians.

Rich Fisher writes the promotional piece on the swimming team's scheduled meeting with the aquatic Elis. Captain Dick Potter is noted in the Carnival program as a stand-out Indian in the breast stroke and medley relay. Dick Cords and Ez Crowley are also mentioned as team members. The basketball write-up by Fred Begole is all about a man named Broberg, Gus by first-name identification. Vinnie Else and Jack Horner are also noted as members of this championship team.

Many names from the past that bring our hearts and minds back to the Hanover of yore. See you in June.
