News from the North: Winter solstice in Montreal. My beloved hockey team is in dead last place. At least we Canadians know how to vote properly, eh? BTW: I voted for the Marijuana Party. On behalf of the 57 '82s born in 1961 (and the two born in 1962), happy 40th. Remember: visit our class Web site for the full versions of classmate updates.

From down under: Heather Hazle Lambert and Peter Lambert live outside Sydney with two daughters, aged 11 and 7: "We've gotten used to enjoying summer Christmas on the beach with prawns, oysters, etc."

Sarah Newey Lilja is in Perth for six months with husband Dave and son 9. Sarah is a clinical social worker in the Twin Cities and consults with schools, families and childcare centers on managing children with special behavior and learning needs.

From around the world: Charles Crane and wife Leisa celebrated 40 by spending five weeks visiting London, Bangkok, Bali, Sydney and Hawaii. Leisa's college pal Laura Quintilliani (Wheaton '82) is married to Bill Jarnagin, who is a surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. They have a 20-month-old redhead daughter.

Tim Jarvis recently married South African Kate Bramwell. They live in New York after having spent ten years overseas in Europe and Asia. Tim is the global custody product executive for Chase Manhattan Bank's Global Investor Services (whatever that means).

Donna Halverstadt works for Goldman Sachs in London, running their investment grade research effort. Look Donna up if you're headed to London.

Sarah Hall writes that Tina Jones has her doctorate in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, is an urban planner with USAID and has lived and worked in various exotic locales. Tina married husband Joe Dooley while living in Zimbabwe. They have a 3-year-old daughter. As for Sarah, she lives north of Milwaukee and is executive director of the Cedarburg Cultural Center. Sarah and husband John Tucker have a 20-year-old son, bom during our sophomore year at Dartmouth, who is a film major at the University of Wisconsin. (Jeez, guess I'd better hurry up, eh?) From out West:

Amelia Craig Cramer has joined the Pima County (Arizona) Attorney's Office as planning/zoning attorney, working toward preservation of the Sonoran Desert and to support efforts to preserve the character of Tucson, where Amelia lives with partner Amy and daughter (1), and occasionally sees Dov Frasier and his family.

Robert Jessen is teaching political science at The College of Santa Fe. He got his Ph.D. from Northwestern in 1996. Wife Mima from Chihuaha, Mexico, gave birth to their first child (a son) last March.

From Landis Arnold in Colorado: Newwith us? A new house in Niwot County. Our daughter is in her 2s. Life is great but time is always short."

Peter Moran is "enjoying the good life in Marin, land of year-round mountain biking. Gearing up for a big ski year, and hope to connect with buddies Sandy Kelsey and Peter Feer in the Rockies." Peter (Moran) works for a new division at Autodesk, providing location-based services to wireless users.

Bill Johnson is the film editor of The WestWing (NBC, Wednesdays at 9 p.m.). He was nominated for an Emmy this year but lost out to ER. Bill is slated to direct an episode of the show this spring. Scheduled air date: April 4.

And finally, from the state of holy matrimony:

Marie Connolly Duhamel was married in November. The following were in attendance: David Andryc, John Dolan, Matt Hoffman, Peter Jacobs, Ann Bailey Melanson, Karen Negris.

Here's a toast to you few idealistic, romantic still-singles like me—maybe 2001 will be our year.
