Ride that 40th birthday wave and happy fifth decade to all '82s! This month, New Hamp: Tony DeBosa graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 1992, interned at UCLA, did his residency in Tampa and fellowship at UCSF. Tony resides in Williamsburg, Virginia, and is part of a multi-specialty ophthalmology group. Dinah Hamilton Davis lives in the mountains of western North Carolina (Highlands) with husband Carter, a gastroenterologist, and kids Virginia (5) and Gardner (2). Dinah sells real estate and is working on a couple of development projects. Dinah writes: "I love small-town life and I love my work. Our resort locale is sparsely populated after October, but we are very busy beginning in May. We are glad to see them arrive and glad to see them leave." Hank Malin left his job as director of admissions at Tuck in 1996. He is currently human resources director for Big G Cereal division at General Mills in Minneapolis. Wife Sue and sons Andrew (7) and Patrick (4) round out the clan. Hank visited Hanover in April with Priscilla Downs Tuttle and Lauren Cliff Barberisi for a reunion of 150-plus current and former Glee Club members—they sang Brahms's Requiem at Spaulding and at Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Jenny Chandler Hauge met her husband of 16 years thanks to a freshman-year New Hamp connection. She writes that "the same liaison resulted in my freshman-year friend Bill Crenshaw becoming my brother-in-law!" [And I am my own grandpa—KB.] Jenny lives "the suburban life" in New Jersey and practices law "in a nontraditional way" as director of a nonprof- it agency that provides free legal assistance to other nonprofits. The Hauges have two children, ages 10 and 12. Jenny serves as a trustee of the Princeton Day School and of the American Camping Foundation.
Mike Harrell attended UCLA Law School and has lived in New York City since 1985. He is a partner in the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton, working in the private equity fund area. Mike writes that Lou Grimmelbein is married with two kids and practicing real-estate law in San Francisco and that Jack Zaremski is doing legal recruiting (headhunting) in NYC.
Kelly Dixon Cooper is VP of product development for women's clothing company J. Jill. Kelly lives with husband Willie and daughters Charlotte (5) and Emma (2) in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Kelly writes that Alison Schmults Bums just had her third boy.
Matthew Norton practices corporate and real-estate law in Charleston, South Carolina. Married to Linda for 14years with kids Matthew (2) and Michelle (1 month). They live at the beach on Sullivan's Island and welcome '82 visitors. Steve Quickel married Cheryl Moldovan in 1989. They live with kids Sarah (9) and Stephen (4) outside Philadelphia. Steve works as VP of information services for Lincoln Investment Planning, a medium-sized firm specializing in retirement plans for non-profit organizations.
And speaking of retirement, I couldn't resist mentioning that all of us could retire if Greg Maffei would split his current holdings in 360 Networks Inc. 1050 ways. A religion and philosophy major, Greg has a Harvard M.B.A. and a background in investment banking. Hired by Microsoft in 1993 to run their new mergers and acquisitions division, he eventually became CFO of Microsoft. Gregwas recruited by Canadian telecom company Worldwide Fiber this past January. He negotiated an 8-percent stake, changed the company's name, brought in a high-powered team, took the company public and his stake is now worth $1.4 billion.
