Reunion is less than three months away! Go to www. alum.dartmouth.org/classes/96 for the latest on what Leslie Jennings and the reunion committee have planned for us. You can also find out who will be going and register online. Thanks to Miranda Barrows, Webmaster extraordinaire, who overhauled the Web site recently. Check it out.
Well, onto news. I was flipping through the latest issue of (Mademoiselle magazine and saw a profile of Eugenia Kim. Eugenia has been designing and making fashionable hats these past few years. Her funky hats have been seen all over the streets of New York and on the heads of many celebrities. If you're ever in New York, check out Eugenia's boutique in the East Village.
Nathan Paine sent me an e-mail the other day. Nathan is in Tokyo, where he has been working at an executive search firm specializing in the financial services sector. He writes: "I'm studying to take a national Japanese language exam and I'm preparing to take the GMAT in the hope of attending business school in either 2001 or 2002. During my free time I am traveling around Asia as much as possible during my vacations. Japan is a great place to work but it's definitely nice to escape from the craziness of Tokyo every now and again."
Nathan is also the district enrollment director for the Dartmouth Club in Tokyo. He wants all '96s to e-mail him to let him know if they are living in Japan or if they know of any grads from any class who are living in Japan. He doesn't know of any other '96s in the area except for Tomoko Nakamura, who he sees every now and then. Nathan also wanted to know how to get in touch with Nik Zanetti. Drop him a line at nathan.paine.9@alum.dartmouth. org or nathan paine@yahoo.com.
Kishan Putta is also in Asia. Two straight political losses have forced him to flee the United States. After McCain 2000 washed out, Kishan worked in Silicon Valley, only to be enticed back to politics to work on the Rick Lazio campaign for New York Senate. But Hillary Clinton won that race and Kishan ended up accepting a job as an editor at Singapore's Straits Times. He writes, "If anyone knows someone out here (is Sanjay Natarajan back in Singapore?), please email me at kishan@alum.dartmouth.org.
Actually, Kishan, you might want to see it Taurey Butler is still in Singapore. The last I heard, Taurey has been on the professional jazz circuit there. I still remember Taurey's early days, playing jazz with Kazu Munakata at Lone Pine Tavern. Any hopes for a special reunion performance at reunion?
That's all the news for now. E-mail or write with any news you want to share for the next issue.
