Its snowing and sleeting here in northern Massachusetts in late February. Not enough snow for my 3-year-old to sled in, but too cold and snowy to ride his tricycle on the drive-way, so he's tearing the house apart instead. I need to have a talk with that groundhog.

Bob Haskins dropped a quick note on a classmate who hasn't appeared in Class Notes for more than a decade. He ran into Jamie Myers in the Tampa International Airport in February. Jamie is leaving the Tampa district attorneys office to take a job as general counsel for Fruit of the Loom. Next month he and his wife, Aleen, are moving with their children Dakota and Brittany to San Ysidro, California, near the Mexican border, where they will start their new life. Good luck, Jamie!

In hopes that old news is better than no news, here's an update on Mike Silberling from last summer. In June 2000 Mike was named senior vice president and general manager of Harrah's Reno. Mike began his career with Flarrah's in 1993 as a member of the Harrah's president's associate program, which recruits students from the nation's top graduate schools. Following Dartmouth Mike received his M.B.A. from UCIA. Mike has spent the last eight years working at each of Harrah's five Nevada properties, as well as developing the first casino in New Zealand. He returned to the United States to serve as director of finance for Harrah's Nevada, followed by vice president of operations for Harrah's Reno.

More old news: The Thayer School of Engineering awarded the 2000 Robert Fletcher Award to Brent Frei, co-founder, president and CEO of Onyx Software. At 34, Brent is the youngest recipient of the award. The Robert Fletcher Award is given annually to an alumnus, alumna or friend of the Thayer School and recognizes distinguished achievement and service in the highest tradition of the school. Previous recipients include Peter Kiewit '22, whose donation funded the creation of the Kiewit Computation Center in 1966. Lewis M. Duncan, dean of the Thayer School, said, "By selecting an architect of e-business as this year's Fletcher Award winner, we illustrate the evolving role of engineering education in todays world." Brent received both his A.B. from Dartmouth and a B.E. from Thayer. Following Dartmouth he worked for Motorola and Microsoft. In 1994 Brent cofounded Onyx, a firm that now is a leader in the customer relationship management software segment. Other Dartmouth alumni in the company's senior leadership ranks include Eben Frankenberg, executive vice president, and Bill Bunker, vice president, product management.
