the icy and treacherous roads of a lower New Enland ice storm, we burst out into the beautiful sunshine and crisp pure air of a Vermont winter. We were making our way up to Hanover on March 2 to attend the funeral Mass celebrating the memorable life of Paul Paganucci, vice president and treasurer emeritus of the College. The Mass was celebrated in the lovely chapel of Aquinas House at Dartmouth, which owes its very existence to Paul's tireless efforts on its behalf. It was a most beautiful service attended by 400, in which the Rev. Ed Boyle was a co-celebrant and spoke most eloquently. He welcomed everyone to the occasion, speaking of Paul's love of family, his loyalty to friends and his wonderful humanity. President emeritus David McLaughlin '54, in his remarks provided attestation to Pag's grand accomplishments and recounted with humor and compassion some "Pag" stories. After the beautiful and moving ceremony, we adjourned to the Top of the Hop as guests of the Paganuccis for a splendid luncheon. As a loving tribute to Pag, his wife, Marilyn, and their children Tom and Elizabeth, the following members of the class attended: Allen, Beekman, Boyle, Brower, the Callenders, the Cassidys, the Chamberlins, the Clerys, the A. Collinses, R. Collins, the Goodmans, the Gosses, Hazelton, Hagoort, the Hendersons, the Hortons, the Jacobses, the Johnsons and Katherine, Kennedy, E. Kingsland, Lazar, the Longabaughs, the Malins, the McCostises, Mclntyre, Menides, O'Connor, the Poraths, Potter, the Reillys, Rosen, Simpson and Cathy, Smoller, the Springers, Stephens, Supovitz, the Vitalises and Whittemore.

The "Estate Planning at 70 Seminar," conceived and organized by Ron Lazar and Chuck Reilly, was held at the Union Club in New York, and was attended by about 50 classmates and their wives. Fred Whittemore graciously extended his invitation to the entire class, who were treated to lunch, cocktails and dinner, all beautifully presented. Fred not only contributed some of his own thoughtful comments and advice but capped off this memorable day by taking every one out to a Broadway show.

The seminar itself emphasized non-financial considerations as well as financial estate planning. Charles Collier '71, senior philanthropic advisor at Haivard, keynoted the session. He was supported by Kathryn McCarthy of the Rockefeller Foundation speaking on teaching financial responsibility to children and grandchildren; Lanny Oppenheim of Salans, Hertzfeld on estate planning strategies; and Morgan Stanley principal Tom Frame regarding asset allocation. Carrie Pelzel, Dartmouth V.P. of alumni affairs, and Angus Russell '52 also contributed to the program. The following attended: Rosalie and Raymond Alexander, Byron Allen, Janet and Thomas Bagg, Charlotte and Charles Buchanan, Vivan and Dick Cahn, Kathy and Bob Callender, Nancy and Allen Collins, Martin DeGennaro, Harlan Fair, Shirley and Edward Glickman, Elaine and Fred Hitt, Barbara and John Kennedy, Liliane and Ron Lazar, Gail and Bob Malin, Tom McBride, Ed Parsons, Judy and Ed Potter, Chuck Reilly, John Rodgers Jane and John Springer, Trish and Woody Spurgeon, Marion and Fred Whittemore, Tay and Bay Yee. Cheers, and keep in touch.
