Adele Colla (Stan's widow) favored us with a visit during her stay in Florida in March. She spent a week with a friend on neighboring Sanibel Island, after having crossed the state four times visiting a variety of places. Adele returned to her home in Falmouth, Mass., on March 22, "to be greeted by a snow-blow and high winds." She is still anticipating the possibility of attending the Harvard game this fall.
Maxwell Field was feted at a retirement party at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on February 14 by the American Footwear Industries Association and fellow shoemen. He served this association and its predecessor, the New England Footwear Association, for over 40 years. He also directed Boston and national shoe fairs and was also active with other shoe organizations. He expects to remain in Washington, D.C., where he has established his own consulting firm serving several government agencies.
The annual class officers weekend is scheduled for May 6-7, 1977, and will be reported upon by Bob Fox in a subsequent newsletter. Bob and Babe are planning to attend, along with Bill Dewey and Jud Pierson, but we will not, as we expect to remain here in Florida until around June 1, when my secretarial mailing address will again change to Box 302, Norwich, Vt. 05055, for the period from June 1 to December 2.
Another attraction coming to Hanover is the 14th Alumni College, scheduled August 7-18, 1977. The program promises to be an interesting and provocative one, so if you are considering attending with your family you had better apply at an early date as enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.
Helen Andrews (Dick's widow) has written of her plans for remarriage in May, 1977, thanking all Class members for remembering her as a widow of a Dartmouth '33 graduate. All best wishes to you, Helen, in your new life!
A recent note from Jud Pierson confirms the assignment of a life insurance policy to the College by a '33 classmate. The cash value becomes a gift this year, and upon death the face amount goes to the College.
Jud also reported a 10-minute '33 reunion at the final home hockey game of the season on February 26, which Dartmouth won over Brown 8-5. Participating in the reunion were Wes Beattie, Jack Manchester, Bill Teahan, Jeff Davis,Dumps MacCarty, and Jud Pierson.
Jud and Jeff Davis have both reported having lunch with Bill and Marcella Teahan at the Hanover Inn, where they spent a weekend in late February. Bill is continuing his surgical practice in Holyoke, Mass., without plans for retirement, but he is being more selective in the type of surgery which he performs. Their youngest son, Harry, is in school at Phillips-Exeter, Exeter, N.H.; Vinnie, another son, is married and lives in Longmeadow, Mass.; they have two other sons, Bill Jr. and Mike, and a daughter, Mary Eileen (Teahan) Conner.
Our congratulations to Jeff and Bea Davis for their eleventh granddaughter, Alyssa. The parents are Chip and Pat Davis, who live in Essex Jet., Vt. Bea served as a baby-sitter for granddaughter #10, Jenny, while her mother was in the hospital.
The Class response during the pre-campaign phase of the 1977 Alumni Fund is encouraging, according to recent reports. The drive will be at the midway point when you receive this May issue of the MAGAZINE, and Mannie Sprague and all his regional and assistant agents have been making a massive effort to support the College by achieving our $55,000 goal. We hope you will be interested in supporting this year's Fund with an increase in giving, if you haven't already. Remember all gifts and pledges have to be in by June 30.
