Ahhh. The fresh smell of summer is bursting forth in the Northeast. Vibrant colors are pushing through the earthen grays of March. Songbirds have returned from their hideaways to serenade us as we go about our daily routine. Crackling bats are heard in the distance as children cluster to the ball field for

Wilton, Connecticut, Little League board member Jeff Rutishauser breathes in a deep gulp of summer air. June marks the one-year anniversary for Jeff's election to the Wilton board of finance. Jeff is the northeast region manager of Daimler Chrysler Capital Services Corp. in Norwalk.

The sweet summer aroma of culinary cuisine fills the home of Oliver and Kathryn (Flitner) Wallop as they celebrate one year of marital bliss on June 30. The wedding was held in Florence, Italy, in avilla overlooking the city. The couple resides in Sheridan, Wyoming, where-Kathryn teaches English and theater at the high school and Matt displays his culinary talent as owner/operator of the renowned Ciao Bistro and newly opened Oliver's Bar and Grill.

No time for a breath of summer air for Scott Zashin. Scott was recently written up in theMagazine of Dallas as one of the top local physicians. Dr. Scott specializes in rheumatology at Presbyterian Hospital and also serves as a clinical assistant professor at UT Southwestern. Scott and wife Angela have two daughters and are active with the Dartmouth Club of Dallas. At the peak of the summer heat, when our country is awash in patriotic colors, Bruce Duthu will embarkupon his new appointment as associate dean for academic affairs a.t Vermont Law School. Bruce has been a professor at VLS since 1991. He is a distinguished scholar in the field of Native American law. Prior to VLS Bruce practiced law in New Orleans and served as director of Dartmouth's Native American studies program.

Tricia Nast and Andy Beran sense the beauty of Dartmouth when they visit their eldest daughter at Scripps College in Los Angeles. Tricia feels that Scripps rivals Dartmouth in its magnificence. Their younger daughter, 13, is an accomplished horseback rider. Tricia is president of the board of trustees for a private elementary school in Sacramento. Andy is controller and strategic planner for the wireless communication group with Intel. They would love to hear from you at tricia@beran.net or andy@beran.net.

Listen carefully and you might hear a little birdie tell you about: Edward Fernandes, promoted to managing partner for the Austin and Dallas offices of Brobeck; Michael Sullivan, appointed CFO at Viaken Systems in Gaithersburg, Maryland; Jim Goldman, appointed president of Campbell Soups North American beverages and sauces unit; Brad Koenig, managing director and global head of the high-technology group, Goldman Sachs; Grant Bogle, named V.P. of sales and marketing for Hoffmann-La Boche, Nutley in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Finally, if you haven't planned your summer vacation yet, why not wait until fall and plan a trip to Hanover. Enjoy crisp fall colors, smell the sizzling embers of a Homecoming bonfire, taste some spiced apple cider and feel the excitement of some great football action as the Big Green welcomes Dan Shula (son of Dave 'Bl and Leslie '81) to the squad.
