Temperatures in the 90s a week ago today; 3 inches of snow yesterday. If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute.

Time photographer James Nachtwey was on campus in April as a Dartmouth Montgomery Fellow. Layne Moffett reports in the April 2 edition of The Dartmouth that Jim "presided over a presentation...of an Academy Award-nominated documentary about his life and work....While the overflow crowd of students and community members may have been expecting a speech, they were not disappointed by the presentation; after answering questions posed by the audience, Nachtwey received a standing ovation." Jim was interviewed for the "Reporters' Notebook" section of the April 22 Time magazine; the issue also featured a section devoted to his graphic images of Nablus taken during the preceding week. Gary Brooks informs me that there is an exhibition of his work at the Hood as I draft this.

Class Webmaster Gary Millers youngest daughter graduates from Bates this spring; freed from the burden of supporting institutions of higher learning, he and wife Debbie plan to travel more. He plans visits to Hanover and environs this summer and hopes to meet Jeff Hall for a "squiglims" rematch. Gary is completing his 10th year as school business administrator for the Canton (Connecticut) public schools, which also employ Debbie. Gary is always open to suggestions to liven up the class Web site and stresses that it is not necessary to wait until reunions to post photos and notes about casual meetings and micro/mini reunions with classmates. (You can also send them on a Green Card to Jon or me!)

Jeff Hall was in Hanover recently to attend a seminar organized by the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network, headed by Gregg Fairbrothers '76. Jeff reports: "We had lunch in the PepsiCo Dining Room and I passed by the General Motors meeting room. My, how Dartmouth has changed! On my way out of town saw a ragged bunch of protesters waving signs. Most of the organizers looked like grey-bearded '70s. My, how Dartmouth has NOT changed!" Jeff has a photo of "what's left of Tri-Kap" if any one wants it e-mailed to them.

Stu Zuckerman was profiled in the April 1 issue of Electronic Media; Stu is vp of sales and marketing for PBS' Nightly Business Report. Due to PBS corporate underwriting policy, Stu can't sell you any time just now, but he "might have an opening in January 2003." Stu had some thoughtprovoking ideas on the future of PBS and TV advertising in general.

Thanks to those who responded to my appeal for news. I don't have room for a trip report on Thailand other than to note that a good time was had by all, and the weather was cooperative. Thirty-one hours in economy is not describable. Note my changed e-mail address, below.
