October 11 to 13 are the dates for this year's '50 fall mini-reunion in Hanover. It's a great time of year to visit New England, especially ifyou haven't been back for a while. We're trying a new place for Saturday night's festivities and it should be great fun.
Our newsletter editor "Fifty" Joe Medlicott was recently honored by ILEAD, Hanover's adult education program. His citation in part read, "As an eloquent advocate of lifelong education, Joe has been a member of numerous committees and advisor on many issues...the very model of a modern major study leader." Joe has been with the Institute for Lifelong Education at Dartmouth for all of its 11 years, having taught more than 25 courses.
At the Commencement exercises in June Fred Rogers was one of the honorary degree recipients. Fred Rogers? Your children and grandchildren know him as Mister Rogers of TV fame. As I understand it, Fred was in our class freshman and sophomore years and then transferred elsewhere.
This issues first randomly selected bio is Walter Baranetsky's. He and Christina live in Maple wood, New Jersey. They have two sons, both of whom are Dartmouth graduates and physicians. After Tuck Walt spent 35 years with Morgan Guaranty Trust, where he became vice president of international affairs. It looks like he's been even more active since his retirement in 1985, especially in institutions and organizations involved with the Ukraine.
Next up is Jack Elliott, who lives in Providence, Rhode Island. He and Ann have four kids, three of whom went to Dartmouth. He is still very active (as of the 50th reunion time) in a large textile-elastic fabric business, of which his son is now the president. Jack has kept up his athletic interests in golf, sailing and skiing, participating in U.S. masters events in the latter.
Enough for now. Drop me ane-mail, please.
