This effort will be a little different than any other I've written. I want to spend some time to tell you about a classmate who I think will always be "Mr. '46"—Reginald F. Pierce Jr. Reg died on August 8 after suffering two strokes. Reg was a leader in our class from the beginning. His wisdom and effort were always there, up front or behind the scenes. When problems arose we went always to Reg. And who can forget the two wonderful books put together for our 25th (with Doug Leigh) and 50th reunions. After opening Pierces Inn in 1971 he played host to many of us and made his inn available to us for our mini-reunions. Services were held at St. Denis Church in Hanover on August 11. Donations in memory of Reg may be made to Red Logan Dental Clinic, 747 Hartford Ave., White River Junction, VT 05001. Thank you for yourpatience and please do not think I feel Reg "above and beyond." With sadness I will report below the passing of more of our class, all loyal members of our class. But Reg,you were special, and the class will always be grateful for all you did for it.

A note from Welles Fendrich tells he's on the move again. He's now located in Newton, Pennsylvania, after re-establishing his old company, Princeton Growth Management Inc. Welles now returns to the East after years in Chicago.

Tom Adams, remember him? You should. He tells me you raised $142,890 for the Alumni Fund this year. The goal was $100,000. So once again, Tom—and you—exceeded the goal. We were second best in exceeding our goal and had 61 percent participation. Good job, Tom, but only because 46 came through. Thanks to all of you.

I report with sadness the deaths of these classmates: Reginald F. Pierce Jr., Leo B. Warring, Hugh W. Bennett, Albert T. Holmes, Frank L. Lagay,

David E. Nassif and Ralph B. Fifield. We extend our deepest sympathy to their families.
