Post-reunion news keeps rolling in. Special thanks to John Engleman for his coverage of the reunion in recent newsletters, and for recent news that brother Steve Engleman recently was honored for his 25 years of service on the Evanston, Illinois, city council. Lots of multigenerational family news in an e-mail from Pete Fahey: He and Helen recently bought a house in Hanover (her idea, not his, he claims...but I'd guess he thinks it an okay idea!). The new house was the recent site of celebration of two new grandchildren: daughter Kim 92 had her third child and son Peter Jr. '94 had his second child. And Peter Jr. and wife Justine '94 now live in Norwich. Baptism of both children at the Aquinas House, with son Michael '97 and daughter Katie 'O6 serving as godparents. Date of the baptism was almost 33 years to the day of Kim's baptism there. I received a call recently from Pete Zack, yet another classmate with a recent diagnosis of prostate cancer. I was pleased to share not only my own experiences but those heard at Bob Block's little mini-seminar at reunion. Peter continues in a Maine energy reduction educational program, and Margaret in serving as staff in a residential living program for adult mentally handicapped. Eldest daughter Sanno is in her second year of a Ph.D. program in clinical psychology at Penn State; Britta recently graduated from Hobart-William Smith; and youngest daughter Annika is an entrepreneurial store manager for a national clothing chain. Don Middleton was profiled in the Bulktin of the Allegheny County Medical Society. Now the vice president for family practice education at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center St. Margaret Hospital, he had not planned to be a doctor while at Dartmouth. While a senior chemistry major, he took a biology course, got an A, and the die was cast. He picked the University of Rochester Medical School in part because his girlfriend —now wife—Nancy, was going to go there for the Eastman School of Music. They married after his first year. After graduating in 1972 he spent residency at the University of North Carolina, rotating in both medicine and pediatrics. Next the Army to fulfill his ROTC obligation, as a pediatrician at Ft. Sill, followed by a return to his native Pittsburg area in 1978 and UPMC St. Margaret, where he has been teaching and practicing for 25 years. He and Nancy have three children: Sarah, Jane and Evan. And No. 1 contributor Gary Hobin e-mailed from Leavenworth, Kansas (the fort, not the prison, he was careful to point out) that he was about to embark on career No. 5, as an instructor in military history at the Command and General Staff College. His new title of professor will be in place by the time you read these Notes. Also, sadly, we recently heard, belatedly, of Phil Basquin's death in April 2001. Please see this or a future magazine for the obituary. Keep the news coming.
