Lots of news to share this month! Jumping right in...Sean Byrnes "had the privilege of serving as a groomsman at the beautiful wedding of Paul Schoenhard to Amy Ligler on August 10. Joining us for the reception at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, were Seth Hitchings, Jarrod Boland, Steve Magoun, Lauren Hickey, Jeremy Neill, Mike Ringenberg '99, Tom Driscoll 'O1 and my wife, Jaime Dodge Byrnes. The happy couple spent their honeymoon in St. Lucia and both will be starting their third year of law school this fall."
Fantastic news from NYC—Caroline Hribar is engaged! "His name is Jack and we met at our parents' beach club when I was 14.1 knew he was for me right away, but last year we started dating while I was in Chicago and I eventually moved back to NYC to be with him and to pursue a career in voice-overs. He proposed in the middle of August, at the same beach club where we met. The wedding will probably be there as well, sometime next summer. Oh yeah, and keep an ear out for me—I did the voice for a MTV commercial that should be airing soon!" Congratulations, C-Line!
Dana Loebman was kind enough to update me on her summer adventures. "So I've had a magnificent summer of travels and various fun times spent with Dartmouth friends. In June I went to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival with Melissa Roth, Jamie Hozack and Christian Budde. We stayed with Meaghan Fanning, CC Rocque, Kate Christiaanse, Greg Gilbert, Charles Drimal and Dylan Karczewski '99, who all live there. We also spent much time with Ben Rifkin, Meghan Sullivan and Charlotte Zukowski, who were also in for the big show. I spent the bulk of July with Melissa and Jamie, riding our bikes from Seattle to San Francisco—stunning."
Lauren Scopaz spent the summer leading a group of 15- to 17-year-olds on an Overland Bike trip from the Atlantic Ocean in Georgia to the Pacific Ocean in California. "Throughout the eight states we crossed, we encountered so many of the nicest, most generous people in the country, saw the beautiful, majestic and diverse countryside, and experienced countless adventures." Lauren has since taken off her bike pants and has returned to Boston, where she does non-profit strategy consulting for the Bridgespan Group.
Kristen Scopaz also led an Overland Bike trip this summer, aptly named the "Crazy, amazing European bike adventure." Kristen led 12 high schoolers as they pedaled theirway from London to Rome. "It was certainly challenging, from the mountainous terrain and surviving on less than five hours of sleep a night, but I embraced the challenges and that's what made the experience that much more rewarding and the great times that much sweeter." Kristen has since returned to the working world in Boston.
Emily Anadu, who is the senior product manager for kids and teens for Chupa Chups USA, recently supplied the lollipops for Beyonce Knowles' (of Destiny's Child fame) birthday party in Atlanta, Georgia. Emily was also accepted at Harvard Business School and will matriculate into the program in the fall of 2003. After two years of working in corporate NYC, Matt Schlough left for Mali (in West Africa) with the Peace Corps. He will spend his next two years there. Please send him letters and postcards.
