Another classmate has joined the ranks of expatriates. He is Dave McDonough and his new and now permanent residence is in Italy, specifically Tuscany s national park. Quoting Dave: "After a dozen years of just visiting, it feels good to settle in without a plane to catch next weekend. Keep in touch." You can by writing to Dave at San Cassiano Di Controni, Via Livizzano 34, 55050 Bagni Di Lucca, Italy. Nearer to home I heard from a proud grandfather, Buck Scott. He reported in from Hanover, where he and all his family (with six kids and at least 10 grandkids, that's a real gang) watched granddaughter Catherine McManus 'O4 get her B.A. For the first time ever Buck climbed Baker Tower and "marveled at the ever-growing forests around Hanover. For Vermont and New Hampshire, the predominant motif is green." Ever the cerebral kind of guy, Frank Smallwood is beating drums for a new program at Alumni College. It's a three-day, intensive language program in French, Spanish and Italian. French was Frank and Ann's choice and he called it demanding but rewarding. Chet Cotter proved once again that he faithfully follows the ups and downs of the College's ROTC programs. A letter to DAM disclosed his gratitude to Norwich University for its assistance and support for our "miniscule ROTC program" described in the July/August issue.

Flashbacks 50 years ago resume with the June '54 issue, when we learned that "Dick Pugh and Nan Bannon were married on February 27 in Norwich, Vermont. After a honeymoon in Nassau they returned to Norfolk, Virginia, where Dick is a Navy ensign. Nan graduated from Milwaukee-Donner and Smith College and made her debut in Milwaukee." After the Navy stint and law school, Dick's legal career was a mix of academia and a practice, ending up at University of San Diego's law school and living in La Jolla. There is a lot more to the story of our Rhodes scholar but that's it for now. Also in that issue Dave Leslie reported that, "Maribel Tucker was married this spring to Harold Johnson. Maribel is another suntanned Florida coed, since she attended Stetson University. We're not quite sure what Harold is doing but he is in East Orange, New Jersey, has completed service as an Air Force lieutenant and should be coming out of the fog of a Bermuda honeymoon by now." He did indeed, going into the insurance business, acquiring an M.B.A. at New York University and carving out a career on Cape Cod. I must correct Leslie's source of info because our 50th year- book puts Harry in the Army infantry as a second lieutenant, not the Air Force.

It's not too early to plan to attend the next '51 mini-reunion. That's in Philadelphia come next May 5 through 8. Classmates and guests have enjoyed Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Chicago as mini-reunion venues and look forward to this one, too.
