The Alden Country Inn in Lyme, New Hampshire, was the scene of a Harrison family gathering on August 16, celebrating Len's 90th birthday co-hosted by his son, Walter '66. It was attended by about 28 far-flung relatives, including Lens cousin, Lloyd Markson, who followed Len to Dartmouth with the class of '35; cousins Rob and Al Sinsheimer, members of the classes of '75 and '77; and another son, Andrew '72. Lloyd was a dentist in Brooklyn; Walter, a pediatrician; Andrew and Rob, lawyers; and Al, an investment banker. Whether he intended to or not, Len ended up "founding" a mini-Dartmouth dynasty.
What a beautiful letter, wishing us holiday greetings, from Bill Wilson. He certainly has very devoted family members who are doing everything they can to help out and take care of him. We can understand, Bill, that this was your last holiday message but that won't prevent us from sending you our greetings.
Jim Shea, son of our classmate and Olympic champion in speed skating Jack Shea, had a six- and-a-half-hour surgical procedure to repairvessel damage in his left leg. We hope he will be able to compete in the skeleton race in the coming Olympics.
We didn't have such a bad football team after all, going 5 and 5 and winning five of our last six games. We should have beaten Brown, going 6 and 4. Brown completely outplayed us but we were ahead with less than two minutes to go. They went 95 yards in a minute and a half.
