It's a good thing to dream of the wonderful class of 1962 trips and celebrations. Our 50th birthday party, crafted by Tom Komarek, with a major assist from U.S. Congressman Doug Walgren, took place in Washington in 1990. Some of us got on the train in Boston with green balloons and high spirits, joining up with '62s there, and picking up more classmates in Providence, New Haven and N.Y.C. Our 55 th party, magnificently organized by Kent Hutchinson, with a superb visit to the Fritz Vine-yards hosted by Jay Fritz, and elegant parties and tours was in San Francisco in 1995. Tom scheduled our 60th birthday celebration in 1999, ayear ahead of most of our 60th birthdays. My notion is that Tom wasn't going to take the chance that the Y2K problem (say, what ever became of that?) would disrupt travel clear into July of 2000.

In July of 1999 we went to London for a whirlwind visit including a cocktail reception on the Terrace of the House of Commons, tennis at Queens Club, a reception at an exclusive London club, remarks by the 10th Earl of Dartmouth and a Shakespeare evening at the Globe Theatre. Our London hosts Pat Giles, Mike Howard and John Knight put together a memorable visit. Then on to Wales and to Ireland, including a visit to Dan Hummel's stone cottage overlooking Dingle Bay. Last summer it was off to Scotland. Dave Pritchard put together a memorable visit that combined education, spectacular scenery and fun.

Tom wrote recently: "I have been working with Henry Sarpy in New Orleans on our class 65th birthday celebration in New Orleans. The event, "New Orleans Class: A 62/65 Celebration," will occur next President s Day Weekend, February 17-20, in New Orleans. We will be staying in the French Quarter at the Hotel Monteleone—the Grande Dame of New Orleans hotels. To highlight the long weekend Henry has reserved space for us at Antoine's Restaurant on Saturday night for the actual birthday celebration." Tom goes on to explain that the fun doesn't have to end on the 20th. he is working on two add-on options: A Caribbean cruise leaving from New Orleans or one or two extra days to explore New Orleans and environs. Save the dates!

Robert A. Yassin is executive director of the Palos Verdes (California) Art Center. Bob majored in art history at Dartmouth, continued studies at the University of Michigan and has been head of the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Tucson Museum of Ait. His art center recently launched a series of art history lectures for the community. Bob Brodkey kindly forwarded information from his city's famous paper, The Washington Post, about George Beller. Georges wife, Emily Couric, died of cancer several years ago. She was a Virginia state senator and a popular Virginia political figure. George donated her political papers to a special collection held by the University of Virginia alongside the documents of other Virginia politicians, including former presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe.
