The executive committee discussed how to use the money accumulated in the 1945 endowment fund. There is approximately $50,000.The class has until its forthcoming reunion to suggest and designate uses that will be acceptable to the trustees. Joe Michael has named Dick Gilman, Frank Hutchins and Fred Berthold to come up with some ideas. Some suggestions are: Provide for the future maintenance of the many memorials on the campus to Dartmouth men killed in wars of the United States; provide for the Tucker Foundation, which needs to fund various students in their proposals for work in developing nations; fund student projects in the DOC. If you have other ideas or comments, get them to one of the three above.
Elaine Andrews (widow of James) writes that her oldest granddaughter will receive her M.B.A. from Tuck this June and Elaine hopes to be there. Andy Carstensen writes to Frank Aldrich that they both hope that Beta will return to the Hanover plain. Andy had some successful winter surgery. They will have taken another look in February. Jack Nuber sent a picture taken in Pittsfield, Vermont, in July and he did not even report in to those of us in Hanover. He does the daily crossword puzzle so he is staying current. He also continues his enjoyment of cooking. Al Foster, claiming ever to be an optimist, feels we will work our way through the serious confrontations we all read about each day. Fred Campbell, writing from Colorado, says: "God willing and the flood don't rise, Amy and I plan to attend the 60th reunion." That is the way to go. John Ahern sends a picture from Delray Beach, Florida, but tells of his great year of travel and continued interest in timber in Minnesota. Connie Johnson (widow of Spence) reports from way over in Quechee, Vermont, that she too is looking forward to being at the big 60th in June. Fun people are coming, so join them. You have heard from the June 13- 151945 reunion committee. Make your plans for a wonderful get-together, call your classmates and get your money in as well in order to make your decision.
