Hello class of '04, and hope you are all enjoying the summer! To start with some exciting news (of which many of you are already aware), Matt Bank had an impressive and humorous—run as one of the finalists in Bill Simmons' (ESPN's The Sports Guy) Intern Contest. The contest, run on ESPN's Page Two, featured eight grueling rounds of wit challenges, asking contestants to display both steady humor and sports knowledge in their quest to become Simmons' next intern. Congrats to Matt for putting in such a strong performance, and for entertaining and representing our class for two months this spring!

In other sports news, the Boston Cannons, a major league lacrosse team, acquired Tom Daniels on April 9. Tom plays attack and midfield, and will look forward to training camp beginning on April 30. And on a more casual level, Chris Toepp and Julie Webb wrote in, "Proving that friendships at Dartmouth don't just start at Dartmouth, we play squash weekly in Williamsburg, Virginia, where we met on the first day of law school. Our skills on the court carry over nicely into weekly pong games as well. Bet none of you saw that coming!" And finally, Roger Brown recently broke into the top 100 skiers in the world rankings, earning him a spot on the U.S. Ski Team. Hats off to all these impressive '04 athletes!

On to the grad school news: Greta Miliigan reports that she is headed to Yale next year for a joint law degree and M.A. in international relations. Jenny Sharfstein is enjoying her time in London, where she is studying for a masters degree in social policy and planning at the London School of Economics. She is completing a comparative study on her undergrad Dartmouth history thesis on the role of organized play and sporting activity in London and New York as part of Progressive Era reform and finding lots of time to travel all over Europe.

Down in the Marshall Islands, Peter Sokol-Hessnerwrites:" Hangingoutwith '04s KristinBurdge, Sarah Wolfe, Steve Zyck, Rachel Baker and Jesse Cameron-Glickenhouse (all in the Dartmouth teaching program) in the small atolls and islands making up the Republic of the Marshall Islands on just about the other side of the earth in the Pacific Ocean! Also present were Jessica Souke 01 and Kristin Romberg '02. Self-husked coconuts, tropically crystal clear ocean and good times were had by all!"

Back on the East Coast, Julian Kelly is enjoying himself working at a law firm in New York City. He still feels connected to Dartmouth thanks to his old friend Tony Campbell (head of the off campus programs), with whom he regularly makes contact. And Cal Newport, along with a current MIT computer science grad student, has just published a book titled How to Win at College: Surprising Secrets for Success from the Country's Top Students. His book is aimed at college students and their parents, and based upon hundreds of interview views conducted with high-achieving students from Dartmouth and colleges across the country. Look for it on shelves at your local bookstore!

In closing, I'd like to thank all of you for sending me your news, and ask that you continue to do so, even as we drift further from our graduation day.
