The Portuguese Algarve was the site of a week's mini-reunion in early Octoberwith hosts Larry and Helga Hampton, Cack and Joanne Bitfner and Andy and Nathalie Thomas. There were some good and some bad golf scores and jokes. We revisited our undergraduate years as we remembered them with much frivolity and many belly laughs.
I'm sure the 2006 mini-reunion was a big success but since it is now August when I write this column, I'll save comments about it until the next DAM issue.
August's class birthday party in Yellowstone was lots of fun and interesting. Fred Kosmo donated two cases of wine that he'd grown from scratch, including planting the grape seeds. Delicious. We saw lots of wild animals and the venerable park attractions, including Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful. The picture of John Murphy aboard a black stallion was worth the trip itself. (See Web site.)
Walt Yusen died last summer after a lengthy and tough illness. He was one of the most dedicated and selfless individuals in our class and was co-founder of the Wearers of the Green dinners, president of the Boston Club and a recipient of the Dartmouth Alumni Award. He ran the Dartmouth travel program so successfully that the College later assumed the responsibility. Harry Marschalk also passed away last June. Our condolences to Jane, Donna and their families.
