Five percent of'79s are named David!

David Edelson practices natural resource defense law in California. David Zakin, a psychologist at Barrington Psychiatric Center of Los Angeles, specializes in trauma victim treatment, including victims of rape, gunshot, robbery, drowning, earthquakes, explosions and lifethreatening accidents.

David Dussourd is professor of biology at the University of Central Arkansas. "I study the intriguing interactions between insects and plants, specifically how insects behaviorally deactivate plant defenses. I use caterpillar pest behaviors as probes for isolating plant chemicals potentially useful in pest control."

David Daniels writes, "Got together with Ben Riley, Jeff Karan and Bill Holmes near San Francisco last April. We spent two days hiking, drinking wine, talking. For a few quiet hours one night it felt a lot like spring of 79."

Daniels's freshman roommate in South Fayerweather was David Brown, who now serves as president/CEO of greater Omaha's Chamber of Commerce. Under Browns leadership the chamber has sparked much economic and small business development. Brown, a geography major, played on the 1978 Ivy League championship football team.

In 1991 Dave Stone (who also lived in South Fayer) launched First Rate Investment Systems. "The company enjoyed significant revenue growth, attributed partly to its reputation for building strong personal relationships." During a 2002 visit to Afghanistan Dave established a partnership between First Rate, Crosslink Development International and an Afghan widows' empowerment group call The Women's Council. "Our first plan," writes Stone, "is to help widows learn to read, write and trade in an industry common in Afghanistan—making rugs by hand."

This December both Stone and David Irmscher will celebrate their half-century birthdays. (David Bachman turned 50 in May.)

David Fitch remarks, "While professoring and researching evolution of development at NYU, I gerbilly trot the tenured treadmill of grant-grub-bing and publication whilst debating intelligentdesign advocates and practicing mazurkas in my free time." David Kelley also works in N.Y.C. As MSNBCs executive producer of primetime specials he oversees special programming. Kelley has received Emmy and Peabody awards.

For this year's Dartmouth College Fund SAE fraternity '79s—including Dave Costello, David Prince and Dave Philhower—posted a 92 percent participation rate.

Dave Frankel writes, 'After 25 years as television reporter, weatherman and news anchor, I just graduated from Villanova Law School and joined a law firm in Philadelphia. The firm does everything from First Amendment defense to whitecollar crime litigation. I'll develop a new practice area representing broadcast journalists and other clients in sports and entertainment." Frankel worked for Dartmouth's WDCR/WFRD.

Another WDCR alumnus, David Title, is school superintendent in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Nearby South Windsor resident David Wolf is VP of marketing and communications at Proton Energy Systems. Wolf writes, "Son Josh is a University of Vermont Business School sophomore. Daughter Jenny, a high school senior, is looking for a college program that will allow her to become a teacher. I travel often working hard to create new approaches to hydrogen supply. I've learned many business lessons along the way. Airline travel gets less fun everyday, unfortunately."

Dave Thomsson writes, "I still run my company importing wood veneers. While most of us are looking at college tuition bills, we are on the 'late program.' Katie started first grade in September. When we go to PTO meetings everyone remarks how nice it is that Katie brought her grandparents. I keep in touch with a few Dartmouth friends. John Bosco is a successful Staten Island lawyer and Wayne Arden lives near our Brooklyn apartment. I hike annually with George Stone, Charlie Hatton and Chris Whitney. Life is good, no complaints."
