I want to revisit an issue that has caused some hurt feelings on the part of several spouses of deceased classmates. The writing of obituaries falls to the secretary, who (in a perfect world) looks to the College Alumni Records Office to supply him with death notices. Because such information sometimes is supplied months (in several cases more than a year) after the event and there is a further two-month delay between the writing of the obituary (which has a limit of 150 words) and publication in the Alumni Magazine, the family of the deceased may wonder who is minding the store. Sending me a copy of the newspaper's obituary is the best way to speed up the process (see address below). On a happier note, I talked briefly on the phone with Bob Ehinger just before Christmas. He and Joan are well and he regaled me with their last year's 10-day trip to Iceland where they visited geysers, waterfalls, salmon streams and lava fields. My own memory of Iceland was returning from the U.K. in late May 1945, navigating a B-17, stopping at Keflavik, and playing touch football at 1 a.m.! Called John Jenkins shortly after Thanksgiving. He is recovering nicely but slowly from some heavy-duty gall bladder surgery that had prevented his appearance at last fall's mini. John is now more concerned with rotator cuff miseries (no surgery). John and Mary are Kendal neighbors of Barbara and Bob Liming, who are gamely coping with some health problems. Had a brief chat with Cal Osberg, who with wife June lives in Sandwich, New Hampshire. They visit Hanover occasionally to attend concerts but have not made recent reunions. Cal is recovering from recent knee surgery. Bob Grant checked in from Sarasota, where he and Jean winter and where they were about to celebrate a 60th anniversary. Paul Young returned my call to report his balance problems that prevented attendance at last fall's mini have been righted. He had a fancy term for it and added that the doctors turned him on end and spun him around and that took care of it! One death to report: William D. Bulloch. Our con- dolences to his family. Stay well!
