Howie Leavitt, our master travel guide, passes on a couple of items for the column-Harry Gustafson is retiring from his assessor's role in the Berkshire town of Monterey, selling his property in Mill River and moving to Great Barrington; second, a fine article about Bill Seidman's myriad career and still-busy lifestyle, which I can't begin to cover in this column. Arecent note from Pres Moore clarified an item in Howies March newsletter that had me, first on the Amazon and then headed for Poland/Prague. The wrong pres, Howie! Jack Jouett e-mails from the Great Northwest that he and Marj have cut back on foreign travel after coming home "exhausted with the Amsterdam flu(!)" This year it will be domestic travel—Paddlewheeler on the Columbia River and enjoying family visits by the grandkids. John Keefe writes about another winter excursion to London—fewer shows this year—followed by a driving trip in Scotland—still beautiful even in winter. He also mentions two "grandpersons" graduating with Dartmouth '01. Charlie Cusack is busy planning a major family reunion in Old Greenwich this September-an assist to Bob Barnum for arranging dinner site, to be followed by a visit to Hanover and our fall mini. Speaking of dates, the fall mini is the weekend of the Penn game, September 28-30. Bob Krumm recently phoned from his Florida retreat to report on the Sarasota alumni club dinner at which Prexy Wright put on an impressive performance in handling a wide range of questions. Bob spotted Bob Grant and Duke Dushame among the attendees. A must for those on recent Panama trip is Dick Proctors video! The gist of a long e-mail from Bob Purdy: Ginny and I enjoy California's Sierra Nevada foothills, nearby children and grandchildren, good health, and travel. Because of WWII his allegiance is divided between 43 and '47. Mike Thurston was still skiing around Bethel, Maine, in mid-April and reported some 2 feet of snow on the ground. He as well as Bob Field passed on the news of Warren Taylors death and attended the memorial service. Our condo lences to the Taylor family. Stay well!
