Thanks to the kindness and information-sharing of our class newsletter editors Bob and PegTirrell, the Green Cards they received from their first newsletter mailing have resulted in the happy circumstance that we have some current news about some of our classmates. Stan Luce reports that he has just published a translation of a second book by jules Verne. During a recent telephone conversation, he talked about his career as professor of French at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After retirement he became a contractor and home builder, an activity that gave him much enjoyment and satisfaction. He currently leads an active life, including walking two miles daily and caning chairs. John McCauley writes that he and Barbara will 0be spending the coming February and March in the Naples, Florida, area and plan to attend the minireunion in Punta Gorda. Word from Dr. Bob Hatt in Sarasota is that he and Joan, a quilter, are well. He continues to work as a volunteer at a free clinic on a regular basis. Dick Hewlett writes from Bethesda, Maryland, that since the death of his wife in May of this year he has moved to a retirement community there. He continues to be active in his company and at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where he is archivist and historian. A note from Dick Kendall tells of his continued activity in a large number of organizations and his role as chairman of the board of several. One company, of which he is board chair-man, makes products for the international gaming industry. He describes a recent trip with his son, president of the company, to South Korea, commenting that Seoul is a "clean and very modern city." Hearing of classmates who continue to lead active and useful lives should be an enriching experience for us all.
