Countdown to our 45th reunion! It's almost here and its going to be world class! Frank Ginn, reunion chair, and his army of assistants have spent hundreds of hours putting together a spectacular few days of activity, intellect and camaraderie. They have done their part,

now you have to do your part and attend. No matter how much work Frank and his team do, they will not believe they have been successful unless you show up and enjoy yourself.

As part of our 45 th reunion, we will once again include an auction of donated classmateowned residences, either primary or vacation, for either one- or two-week periods. This was a very successful program, which raised a lot of money for our 40th class reunion gift. Please help us out for the upcoming 45th. Contact Vic Rich, this reunions auctioneer, with your donations (e-mail victor.rich@rsmi.com or call 212/297-4812). The donation of other unusual items (e.g., private or corporate jet usage, private or corporate yacht usage, etc.) will also be considered. Thanks to those of you who have already responded with a contribution, and to those of you who will do so in the near future.

Another interesting class project is currently in process. Our class has numerous authors in its midst. Let me know who you are and provide us with one signed copy of each book that you authored or co-authored and had published. Please e-mail me and send me an autographed copy addressed to "Class of 1961." You will be pleased that you participated in this unique project. Let me hear from you.

The XX Winter Olympic Games have come and gone in February 2006. Dartmouth sent a record 14 Olympians to Torino, Italy. What is less known, however, is that four other college alumni also performed vital roles to various U.S. teams, including our own classmate, Roger Hartley, who was the team masseuse for the U.S. biathlon team.

Speaking of philanthropy by our class, we apparently contributed more than $1.4 million for the year ended June 30, 2005, which includes amounts donated to the College, Tuck, Thayer, the Medical School, the Class of 1961 Legacy Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts at Hopkins Center, the new rugby fieldhouse, the D swim program, the new Kemeny Building, etc. Our $1.4 million was the 10th highest of all Dartmouth classes, and, if reunion classes are omitted, was the fifth highest total. Not too shabby for an undersized class of underachievers! Congratulations to all of you who made this possible, including Hank Eberhardt and all of the class leaders who led these separate efforts.

As our class approaches its 45th reunion, our reunion giving co-chairs Gerry Kaminsky and Don O'Neill have indicated that business is brisk but not yet overwhelming. Both total dollars contributed and participation are strong but as of the date this column was written, our class goals for total contribution dollars and percentage of the class making a donation had not yet been reached. Please do whatever you can to help the class in one or both areas, as your personal circumstances warrant and personal objectives dictate. Thanks.

Pat and I want to thank those classmates who were able to attend our wedding reception in January—Michael and Helene Murphy, Gerry and Jackie Kaminsky and Bob and Linda Rosier, as well as Allan and Marilyn Glick from the class of 1960.
