I am writing this column near that teeth-gritting date, April 15! To add to the joy, our Cincinnati digs—a downtown apartment building with a bit of age on it—is going through the throes of a facelift. On the plus side, Louise and I continue to keep busy with enjoyable volunteer work at Cincinnati Music Hall. One of the real thrills (often bedlam) is seating nearly 3,000 school kids at 10 a.m. and another 3,000 at 11 a.m. for an abbreviated symphony concert under the direction of an enthusiastic and imaginative conductor. If you are hooked by the classical music experience, it sure is worth it. I had a recent telephone conversation with Don McCorkindale. He and Louise are about to make the move from their lovely Chatham home into a nearby assisted living facility. He had a bit of info on John Robinson, a Chatham neighbor who has had some recent health problems but who Don thought was doing better; also Don mentioned Henry Keck and Bill Maeck as former correspondents he has not heard from recently. When I checked in with Bud Miskell, who is back on the Cape following his usual winter sojourn in Naples, he reminded me that he had postcarded me (I had forgotten!) about attending a Tuck function in Naples, where the dean spoke. Bob Ott was his dinner companion. Bud also mentioned attending the funeral of Janet Edmunds, Ben's widow. Bud is still playing some tennis. Bob and Joan Barnum are engaged in some interesting work these days. Hope you all caught Howie Leavitt's recent newsletter with the Barnams' description of prisoner interviews. Louise and I had hoped to talk Bing and Anne Donaldson into a June Alaskan excursion so Bing could look for the site where one of his relatives once panned for gold, but they are unable to join us. Bing deserves our thanks for his tireless fundraising efforts. Remember the fall mini October 6-8.
Two classmate deaths to report: Walt Delany in January and Paul R. Rill in February. Our condolences to the families. Stay well!
