You have received the marvelous 1957 reunion book assembled by Tom Schwarz and his staff with hardcover courtesy of Eric Eichler Take the time to read it cover to cover. Start with the welcome messages from class president Randy Aires, reunion co-chair Bob Marchant and College President Jim Wright. The class of 1957 has always been a strong class. Read the list of class officers through the years leading up to our Class of the Year Award in 2005. The names and memories will start to come back. Head agent Bob Adelizzie praises our class financial support in participation and dollar amount. Read the sports section. Many memories there. Read the Alumni Award citations given to several classmates. The vintage photographs will stir further memories and lead you into the rest of the book. Bob Copeland said it well: "We discover that what we had at Dartmouth was both a very worthwhile and rewarding experience and, more importantly, provided a commonality which seems to have bound us together in a very good way."

Who are we now? The questionnaire responses provide some insight. Take your time reading through the personal essays. Each one of us is unique and, yes, diverse. We all led very different lives, had plans, hopes, successes and setbacks and we carried on. Look for your roommates, friends, fellow majors, fraternity brothers, those who played on a team with you or were in the Glee Club with you. Consider the paths they took and their observations. All good men with varying contributions to what we call society. Some who walked across the stage aren't with us any more. They are forever part of our class and write-ups have been included for them.

Go to the Web site www.alum.dartmouth.org/classes/57/50th. Review it from beginning to end. Look over the calendar and plan each day. Make sure you are signed up for special activities (golf, tennis, hiking) if you wish to participate. Make sureyou have housing. Complete and send in your registration form. Register separately at the Balsams to continue there with the class. Check who is coming so you can make plans to see them. There are even directions to Hanover!

Last year we lost one of our best. Denver, Colorado, mayor John Hicken has established the annual Monte pascoe Award for Civic Leadership in recognition of his many contributions to the community.

After co-chairing the President s Intelligence Commission Larry Silberman now serves as a senior federal judge. Larry teaches at Georgetown Law Center, where he is designated a distinguished visitor from the Judiciary.

See you in Hanover during reunion weekend.
