So just when I thought I was finished with Otter, Seal and Pinto, there comes an irresistible invitation from the Dartmouth Club: "Celebrate Winter Carnival in New York with Chris Miller of Animal House Fame" at the Village Pourhouse of course. Not wanting to seem like an ignoramus, I trundled over to my local Barnes & Noble, whispered the title to a sympathetic young clerk and followed her slowly to the rear of the store to a section labeled "Study Aids." Study aids? "Maybe because it has something to do with college," she murmured. There it was TheReal Animal House standing proudly in its bright red jacket next to such distinguished titles as Binge:Campus Life in an Age ofDisconnection and Ethics, It'sOk if You 're Clueless and 23 More Tips for the CollegeBound and Essays That Will Get You Into MedicalSchool.

I won't tell you what's in the book except to say that Chris is a Marvelously talented and witty writer and that some of his material is not for the faint of heart, that is to say there is a lot of sex, drinking and pranks. Did all that stuff really happen? Buy the book and let us know. It's a good read and has a special charm for Dartmouth grads. As for Chris, he warmly welcomed me surrounded by admiring male and female alums from many classes. With free Buds and scenes from the movie playing on plasma screens, we basked in the glow of a lost mythic era while Chris regaled us with tales from his own dolce vita, which seemed to revolve around the. basement of AD. Apart from Marc Lewinstein '98, son of Steve Lewinstein, I spotted no '63s or children of '63s, except, of course, Huck Doody Rhesus Monkey and Moses, whose spirit seemed to pervade the place.

Some '63s were down in Palm City, Florida, doing more sober stuff like winning the 18th annual Dartmouth Golf & Tennis Jamboree organized by this year's chairman, Bob Bysseh. In low-net team competition John Kubacki, John Lehigh, Norris Siert and Daryl Smith took first; Burt Alpert, Bob Humboldt, Mike Losee and Art Williams came in second; and Beth Bysshe, Tatiana Kubacki, Willie Siert and Sandra Williams placed third. (A low-net score takes into 'account a golfers handicap.) Burt Albert, Joyce Humboldt and Daryl Smith won "closest to the pin" prizes. Terry Russell and Joy Smith competed in round-robin tennis. Enjoying the clubhouse reception with 90 alums from many classes were Steve and Diana Lewinstein and John and Carol Bell.

Gabriel Macht son of Steve Macht has a key role in Because I Said So, the top-grossing comedy film starring Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore. Gabriel also appears in the CIA film The GoodShepherd as a Yale friend of the lead character played by Matt Damon.

I regret to report the death of Bill Cleveland, a scholar and teacher on the Middle East, in Vancouver, Canada.
